Does glass gets stained by spaghetti sauce like plastic does?
No, glass doesn't get stained. I have a snapware glass lock set from costco which I have used for baking and microwaving. No stains n easy cleanup too. Only downside is they are a bit heavy for my lunchbox.
I own this set and it fits the bill nicely for storing some fresh garden vegetables and soups, etc.. You should definitely not microwave any tomato based dishes in these as you will have non-removable stains. If you are storing tomato based dishes in these you should always let the food cool before filling the container.
Bisphenol-A (BPA)[wikipedia.org] is the main concern but "in general, plastics that are marked with recycle codes 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 are very unlikely to contain BPA. Some, but not all, plastics that are marked with recycle codes 3 or 7 may be made with BPA." The Rubbermaid and other brands of plastic food storage containers (many way before the BPA hoopla) we have the bases are code 5 and the lids are code 4.
