I have no cell service in my house - with wifi calling I get service in my home. Additionally, if you are in a postpaid plan and you contact T-Mobile customer service and ask for it, wifi calling uses no minutes. Thus, even tho I am sharing 1000 minutes in a 4 line family plan, I have free unlimited calls any time of day in my home using wifi calling. i work out of my home and my cell phone is my business line. So, for me, wifi is not only important but lack of it is a deal breaker.

I still don't see how this is different than Google Voice, and how you choose this phone over the Nexus for that reason.

Did you know that Nexus is getting Jelly Bean, also has better screen.

It doesn't cost minutes if you are on a current Value or Classic plan and you request that it not cost minutes. It does use minutes if you are on a pre-paid plan. Believe me, this has been hashed over again and again. I look at my bills, I know when I use minutes and when I don't. Wifi minutes are marked on my bill with a "U" and they don't get deducted from my normal pile of minutes.

T-mobile's wifi app is seamless and requires no setup beyond initial connection to the router. I have my phone set up to automatically switch to wifi calling if it sees a network it's connected to in the past, so I don't have to even think about it. That's worth it to me.

sales tax $25 in Cali makes it less hot (~$275). I was considering, but can probably get one on ebay for $220 or so...

WiFi calling uses your cell phone number as caller ID for all outgoing calls and still does not use up your plan minutes, that would be a major difference, I guess.

If you are a current T-Mobile customer just contact customer service and ask for unlimited hotspot calling - I am sure they still offer it even though they don't advertise it at all.

Here's how my monthly usage breaks down in a 4 line 1000 minute/unlimited texting Value plan. After loyalty discounts and a grandfathered AAA discount I pay $97.00/month for this plan (everybody has 2GB of data before throttling, as you can see we don't approach it). I'm considering lowering my cost by 10 bucks by asking for the two additional lines for free, a current promotion. The reason I haven't done it yet is one line is an adult daughter and I need to transition her off the family plan, and I would have to sign a 2 year contract extension on all 4 lines to save the 10 bucks a month. Decisions decisions . . .

This is considered Samsung Galaxy S1 ?
