Deal Details

It's here! Are your wallets ready for the abuse? Here's hoping there are great deals to be had here. I'll update this thread with sales and deals.

Click here for sale's frontpage: http://store.steampowered.com/

Quick primer for the newcomers:

  • Daily Deals: Each day, new daily deals appear at 10AM PST and expires the next day at 10PM
  • Flash Deals: At any given time, there will be 4 deals that won't last long (several hours). When one expires, another replaces it.
  • Community Vote Deals: You get to vote on what the next deal is. Every 8 hours.
  • Deals spanning the entire event: Various games and bundles are on sale for the entire sale, however play it smart and only buy a game if it's a daily deal (when the price is lower). Resort to buying what doesn't go on sale as a daily deal at the end of the sale.
Steam Sale Commandments:
  • Thou shalt not purchase any individual title unless it is a daily/flash/community deal. Wait until the end to buy otherwise.
  • Thou shalt not hesitate to jump on too-good-to-be-true deals as there have been price mistakes in the past sales. Price mistakes are honored.
  • Thou shalt not hesitate to dip into the kids' college funds to buy these games
  • Thou shalt live off of ramen until the end of the sale
====Current Deals====
Remember, never buy a game unless it's a daily/flash/community deal. If it never shows up as a daily/flash/community deal, go ahead and buy it on sale at the last minute.

7/22 Daily Deals (ends 10PM 7/23):
Flash Deals:
When a flash deal ends, another begins...
Community Vote Deal:
A new poll and deal every 8 hours...

====Event-wide Deals (July 12th - 23rd)====
I cannot express this enough: only buy games if it is a daily/flash/community deal. Resort to purchasing on-sale games at the last minute if it never appears as a daily deal.

Individual Titles:
A subjective listing of some cheap/good games that I believe are already at their lowest. Might as well buy these whenever. Please do your own research first before buying!

Publisher Bundles:

Maybe I'm just stupid, but the $50 Bethesda Collection seems like an excellent deal if you don't own any of those games currently for PC like myself.

Lol @ 50$ bundles. Whatever Steam... good luck with that.
I'd imagine a lot of these $50 bundles will be very successful, specifically the ones from Valve, Bethesda, THQ, and Square Enix/Eidos.

Flash deals makes things really interesting now. I wonder if the games in flash deals could go lower as daily deals. For instance, 50% off Rayman Origins as a flash deal is nothing special, but could it potentially pop up at 66-75% off as a daily?

Grimrock for $6 is a great price. Excellent dungeon crawler with good puzzle and impressive lighting effects. Not much replay value since the floors aren't randomly generated, but the devs are working on a level creator so people can create their own labyrinths.

Time to see how many more titles I'll never have time to play Steam will lure me into buying...

I was hoping for daily accomplishments like they have done in the past to win free stuff, but I guess the flash sales and user choice sales are a fun idea. I'm sure I will be more excited if there is something I really want at a good price shows up in one of those two areas.

Remember that you may not use SD to work out multi-pack deals. Go to the SD groups on steam to work out multi-pack purchases.

Notice this year that flash sales mean there will be a new deal every 2 hours once this first set starts expiring.

After the way so many people abused the system during the Winter sale, it's not that surprising that they decided to go a different route. I do like the idea of deals that users can vote on, though. I voted for Saint's Row The Third, personally, since that seems like the best deal of the three.

BTW, be sure to check the list of games for $5 and under. You might find a hidden gem for 75% off that doesn't show up as a daily deal.

Just checked batman arkham asylum GOTY...It's 13.39. FAIL. Arkham city with no DLC is 20.09...WTF. I hope these prices go down as a flash deal

ARMA II: Combined Ops is 20% off down to $23.99, but I'm guessing since it's not a daily deal I should wait?

No, I'd go with dumb.

He's probably not rich either. Not if he thinks like that.

Um...yeah. Welcome to steam sales.

Arkham City is up for vote at 66% off.

If its not a daily deal, it will probably be a flash deal or daily deal over the next 11 days.
