Hmm, it's coming up as $2,229 for me. Sounds like the $1,796 (pre-coupon) is a regional deal. :-(
A good friend has this fridge and it's AWESOME. The door panel is simple and isn't overly advanced (which, I think, is less prone to breaking down vs. fancier panels with the color touchscreen & custom OS).
I had been eyeing this fridge for over a year now, but the distance between the kitchen island and kitchen counter is not wide enough (by about 1") to accommodate getting this fridge into the spot where it needs to go. This defecit includes removing the doors.
Since I'm not super handy, I'm not comfortable to remove the bolts that lock the kitchen island into the floor (as I may not be able to get it re-locked afterwards). :-(
I have this frige and can validate it is great. The only compliant, if any, is the ice maker is louder than the norm when the ice drops into the container. Unfortunately, I paid the $2,300 for it. It is definitely a slick deal if you can get it at this price.
I have this fridge and hate it for 2 reasons. The computer is crap. If you are at all prone to power-outages, when the power comes back online, the computer has to re-set. There is no manual way to do this, you just have to wait. The first time this happened, it was over 24 hours, and I called Samsung, who promptly told me to give it more time for the computer to re-boot. The stupid thing controls temp and switching between Ice and water!!!! Why would it take so long to re-boot? While re-booting, you are stuck with what ever the last selection you made prior to the outage. If it is on ice, you can not get to water, and vice versa.
As someone already mentioned, the ice-maker is really loud. Sounds like a stupid complaint until you are awoken in the middle of the night from ice falling.
Also, the ice bin is too small / it just doesn't make ice fast enough, we run out of ice often (yes I live in AZ, but I have never had this problem before).
we have this, but we have the one with the middle drawer. excellent idea, great for cold drinks. yup, the ice maker is loud, but it does not bother us. really quiet. led lighting is a winner. the twin cool system will keep fresh vegetables fresher a lot longer that conventional. for some reason, i dont know why, when i open both doors, and leave them open, like when i return from shopping, and i am putting stuff in it, it seems like the cold air stays in there. the bottom freezer is genius. it is where it should be, not up top. and a side by side leaves both sides too small for some foods. one problem is the placement. our house has the refrigerator in a corner. so one door cant open all the way. and the place for it was only 33" wide, so we had to get one that is smaller than most. i think the middle drawer is also genius, i use it easily as much as the regular twin door part. my only complaint is the water. we had an ozarka hot/cold dispenser, and the taste of the filtered water is different. we prefer the ozarka, but i figured in the cost of the ozarka monthly, about 31 bucks, into the long term cost of the refrigerator. the taste difference is cancelled out by the elimination of handling those 5 gal jugs of water, and lugging them into the kitchen.
