When I give rep to someone it says "0 rep given"

Every time I try to give someone reputation, it says on my profile that I have given them zero rep. Why is this? The little colored square next to their name is grey, as well. When I receive rep from someone else, the square is green.

The reason that the reps you give show the little grey box and say 0 points is because you have less than 50 posts. In order for reps to give actual points to someone, a user needs to have more than 50 posts. The users that you give the reps to can still see the comments you leave them, though. Once a user has at least 50 posts, then the reps they give after that will then also give points.
