For DDR3-1333, both CL8 and CL9 are JEDEC standards, while CL7 and CL10 are "optional" JEDEC standards. See:

Most DDR3-1333 RAMs you can find in the market are CL9. A handful of them are CL7 and CL8.

Got in on both those deals. $20 AR for 8gB 1333. Memtest came back perfect Smilie

Both rebates approved according to patriot.4myrebate.com Smilie

Great rebate Companies:

Patriot Memory (4myrebate.com): 6 Weeks
Tiger Direct (4myrebate): 3 weeks
Rain-X (in house): 3 weeks

BAD BAD MAIL IN REBATE COMPANIES:

Xigmatek 26 weeks, 14 emails, 2 phone calls (finally received)
NZXT 21 weeks, 4 phone calls. Check that was finally received was dated 2 months earlier with a 90 day expiration on it, giving me about 25 days to cash it. Shady shady shady.

the flaw is you're implying there are CL7/8 SO-DIMMS widely available, and there aren't
so CL9 is typical which was the response to the original question

I did not. Sorry if it wasn't clear, but I do mean that DDR3-1333 RAM is typically CL9, and CL7/8 RAM is much rarer than CL9. I was supporting your claim by providing references.

The main purpose of my original post is to prevent "gamers" alike from claiming that CL9 is bad. In fact, CL9 is mainstream.
