Amazon Kindle 6" WiFi eReader w/ Special Offers $47.50 + Free Shipping w/ Amazon Rewards Visa Card

I am somewhat interested in a Kindle, though my wife and I have a netbook and notebook respectively we use for portable reading with our Amazon accounts. My biggest interest is the Kindle with offers - more for the SD than the reading, though we would use it for both (thinking of it more like a one time Sam's Club membership). Two questions - can two accounts share one Kindle device, and how do the "special offers" work with the Kindle, i.e. is it something you can just bypass when you are reading, or is it really annoying and intrusive, for example once you've scanned a deal and then come back to the device, do you still keep getting it shoved on your screen. Thanks and reps for answers.

I used to get these all the time and no longer receive the emails. Certain I didn't intentionally opt out of anything. A bit annoying but thank you SD!

I'm not sure about multiple accounts (my guess is no), but the offers are non-intrusive when reading. They only show up when you turn the device on standby or when browsing the menus/library. The standby screen is typically a full screen ad for the product, while the menu version is a small banner ad at the bottom of the screen. They have never bothered me at all

Hmmm, not sure. Looked around the site a bit and even clicked on the bottom of one of those emails (the unsubscribe link), There was a check box there for verifying that you changed your mind about opting out, but it's specific to my account and I can't edit the email address text box or the url to get to a generic page where you can enter your info.

One other thing to note is that the unsubscribe link mentioned that when you opted out it did not mean you were excluded from chase specific offers related to your card. So you may want to call in. First I'd do a search for "cardmember exclusive" and make sure you weren't just ignoring the emails. Maybe they have been going to spam?

You can only register one account to a kindle. But you can lend books from your account to another account so you could read one accounts books with the other account's kindle - just not all at the same time.

The ads are not bothersome at all. They never show up while you're reading, they only act as a screensaver and show up in the menus. And a lot of times they are actually quite good deals ($10 for a $25 amazon gift card was my favorite).

Special offers are ads that amazon puts on your kindle to help subsidize a portion of the device cost. They only show up as screensavers and in the menu - never while you are in a book and reading.

Are the special offers worth the price of buying one? I have a fire and you cannot sign up for special offers. How often and what kind of offers do you get. Thanks for any help.

I may be missing something here but there are much better offers for signing up for new credit cards. Why should I sign up for Amazon Visa to get a measly $30 off?

Because you also (effectively) get 3% cashback on all your Amazon.com purchases. That beats the 2% I get with my Fidelity AMEX. (The exception is when say Chase Freedom has their 5% bonus for Amazon.com, but that's only 3 months a year...)

EDIT: Your link mentions Citi Forward. 5% cb would be GREAT. 5% on thank-you points... NOT so great. Yes, once upon a time, but... not that good any more.
