Our AT&T contract ends mid of next month after 2 years
Our current family plan includes 550 minutes talk time for 2 users (1 smartphone and 1 normal phone), data plan (2GB) & unlimited text for one smart phone. We pay $86 for current plan after corporate discount. Few months we paid $140+ when our Google Voice ditched us over international calls and we were billed by ATT. Overall I am okay with ATT but I am looking to reduce monthly phone bills/ considering prepaid plans from other providers. Checked ATT prepaid plans and cost does not make much difference.
We recently bought another smart phone (Sony Xperia neo V, we use this over wifi at home) I am looking for cost effective family prepaid plan with atleast 500 minutes, text and min 2GB data from providers with good coverage (East Coast). I am waiting for next version of iPhone as well.
Should I continue with ATT until iPhone 5 and then jump on another contract? Any good prepaid plans available right now?
First, I would never sign a contract with a cell phone company. As fast as the cell phone market changes nowadays, there's no way I'd want to be chained down by a contract.
Second, have you checked out Page Plus[pagepluscellular.com]? I have had them for about two years and have been very happy with their prices, coverage, and customer service. Check them out - they're super cheap with fantastic coverage (they piggyback on Verizon's prepaid network).
