Just a heads up that Southwest and Chase have the promotion to get 50k points after you spend $1000 in the first three months of opening your account.

Please stop saying bonus points do not count toward companion pass. Although the T&C seem to state that, many people in this thread as well as previous threads report that the points DO IN FACT COUNT According to my RR account, the bonus points I receive the last time I applied do count toward the pass. Please read through this thread, as well as the previous threads. You will see the bonus points do in fact count toward companion pass.

A companion pass is earned by flying 100 qualifying flights OR accumulating 110k points.
This pass will let your companion fly free with you.
The pass is valid for a calendar year.

But this is how it works. Say you get it in July 2012. It would then be valid till the end of 2012 and ALL of 2013. In the year 2013, you would again have to hit 110k points OR 100 qualifying flights and then it would be extended for all of 2014. This is wrong info..

Hey! this is a really good deal... too bad that there's no way in hell that Chase will give it to me..since I was just approved for 4 cards in one month! Big Grin

I don't think so...There's a very slim chance of getting it. What would the reasoning behind it be?
A much better way is to apply for the Premiere and Premiere Business (using the 2 browser trick)...atleast this way you can claim that you want to keep your personal and business spending separate.
And Chase has been known to accept this reason. Smilie

the 2-Browser trick works on Citi cards, not Chase. Chase will only instantly approve 1 card every 30 days. You can apply for 2 and then call in for one of both of them to shift credit or trade another card to get approved.

If their system thinks of Premier and Plus as separate cards for the purposes of opening bonuses, then you could get one, cancel it after some months, and then get the other. I've seen a few posts on various places by people claiming to have done this, but not enough for me to be sure.

Here's my experience:

I got the Premier card last November when they had the promotion. I activated and used it so my 50K points hit last year. This year, I think they last had the promo in April. I signed up my wife for the Plus card, but I put my RR number on the application. Sure enough, the 50K points were deposited into my RR account.

Already having the Premiere card from last November, I just applied an hour ago for the Plus card and was instantly approved. So, once I spend the $1000 in 3 months, I should get the 50k points into my account. I've already spent over $10k this year on my Premiere card, so I should get the companion pass for the remainder of this year and next year.

Both my Premier and Plus cards are the personal cards. However, since I got my Premiere card, I use it all the time as we fly Southwest a lot. Not sure if they figure that when deciding whether or not to approve for the Plus card as well.

And I have done a LOT of explaining to get 4 cards (Marriott,PriorityClub, MileagePlus, British Airways) within one month... Even if I was eligible for this one...I don't even know what I'd say. Why do I want 2 of the same cards?Like the OP posted above..applying for one and then later applying for the other is one thing...applying for both together is much more difficult. If you're going to try it out, let us know how it goes! Smilie

yeah..and then Chase and many others realized that a lot of people are getting these cards for the signup bonus and then never using it again...so they began putting in minimum spends.
like the BA card..used to be 100k after $2.5 spend(or was it less? I don't remember)..now it's 100k after $20k spend! nod
