I think you're right though, this is the best way to do it. At least with Chase, I applied for the premier 3 months ago, was instantly approved. Then 2 weeks later, I applied for plus business and was initially denied, the rep said it was an automatic denial by the system bc I had applied for multiple cards in too short of a time frame. I eventually got accepted for second one after I called recon line and now i have companion status for this year and next year! Financial Advice for Young Professionals:

Chase would probably see it...But if you also applied for Amex and Citi, they wouldn't. Glad I could help!
Rep unto others as you would have them Rep unto you.

Ok I admit I have not read every word on thread..
Question, if you now have the basic card. could you at renewal time call and get upgraded to the card with the 99 annual fee or and get the 6000 points or should I cancel and reapply in a few month or year? and once the points are put into your acct they stay even if you cancel card right? |
|
i dont think it's realistic for people to read multipage threads just hoping to find the answer to your question. whats wrong with asking? you experts should have sympathy for noobs who are ignorant like you used to be.
i would like to know the answer to the above question too. |

I do that, you have a chance of getting blacklisted/account cancelled and points taken if you cancel your card after getting the bonus points. Wait for ATLEAST 8 months. You're no losing out. You've already paid the annual fee. What difference does it make? Play it safe..Cancel after 8-10 months. You know what?...Play it smart too, DON'T cancel... and rather Apply for a NEW Chase credit card (a different one, where you've not gotten the bonus offer before) If you get approved, then awesome..If you don't get approved, then tell Chase to cancel the card. That way, in Chase's book, you didn't cancel..they cancelled it. I don't think it's realistic to read 100 pages. and there's nothing wrong in asking...But I think it's totally realistic to read 10-12 pages. This is not the general theory of relativity. It's an easy read. Yes, I was a newbie too. And not too long ago at that. But whenever I had a doubt, I would first try and read and find out what I could by research. If I was in a thread, I usually read the last 4-5 pages...minimum. We have plenty of sympathy and nobody can accuse me of not helping out..just go back a few pages. Jeez. But it gets tiring when you've just answered 40 questions that someone came up with..and then a few posts down, someone asks the same question, when they could just glance up, do a little reading and get the answer. THAT'S the part that gets me. I have done my share of asking a million questions. But they were questions I couldn't find the answer to, I never expected anyone to spoonfeed me. ![]() Having said that, I don't know the answer to YOUR question..and I didn't tell YOU to read back. I told user ashish20000. I had literally answered the same question 2 pages back. And I didn't relish typing all that all over again. Ask a question that you COULDN'T find the answer to...Or do your research and then ask us what part you didn't understand, and we would be more than happy to help! Cheers.

Don't apologize! You're making me feel bad! Firstly, you do realize,I hope, that when you cancel that card, your giving up a nice chunk of credit history with it.. Secondly, the taking away of points is done only when you cancel your account right away after getting the bonus points. Thirdly, make sure that you're not signing up for the same card that you had earlier, to make sure that you get the bonus points...and you should be all set! Cheers!

My SO applied for Personal Premier card in January, instantly approved.
Applied on 7/17 for Business Premier and received pending screen. Called on 7/19, was asked to verify name and address, approved for 20K. Used name as Business name. Did not fill in what type of business and was not asked. Now off to earn 10K rapid reward points for companion pass. |

i understand where you are coming from. to be clear, i really appreciate your help. but i never asked YOU to help me. I was asking if anyone in the community would be willing to help. if you were annoyed, then you didnt have to reply. the diff between you and a noob is that you know that the answer is somewhere in the thread, but when you're new sometimes you're just really confused and want guidance. i think this is an issue of self centered-ness. the world would be a better place if we could see things from the perspective of those who have/know less than us.
again, thank you for helpin me. |
