yeah.. you apply for the the premiere and premiere business. or the regular and regular business. You will get denied for one of them and accepted for one ,assuming that you have a good credit score, yada yada and have not applied for a hundred other cards within the last month or so. ![]() So say you get the personal and denied for the business, then you call the recon number and explain to them that you're going to be making a million trips this year and the next, all for business purposes , that you're an entrepreneur or something... and you would like to keep your personal spending and business spending separate. And you'll most likely get approved. (worst case scenario, you might have to move some credit around) This is most useful when you're aiming for the companion pass. You need 110k points to get it. So getting 2 cards would net you 100k and then you'd have to get 10k from actual spending or buying the points (not worth it) Cheers!
Rep unto others as you would have them Rep unto you.

Does anyone know what the companion status is?
Also, it says that it can be redeemed for 2 free flights ($800 in wanna get away). Does this mean it gives you $800 in wanna get away credit regardless of the # of flights (you could get 3 free flights if you found the right deals). |

I already have this card from before (bought a whole stick of gum to "earn" it) but I wanted the 50k business also. I was getting restless waiting for a new Chase card offer and just wasted my app on the dumb Chase Slate sign-up, which I don't even know how to use.

Don't know the answer to the second question..but the answer to the first can be found here [southwest.com]. Basically when you accumulate 110k points, you get a pass which lets anyone to travel with you for freeeeeee. ![]() This pass is valid for a calendar year. But this is how it works. Say you get it in July 2012. It would then be valid till the end of 2012 and ALL of 2013. In the year 2013, you would again have to hit 110k points OR 100 qualifying flights and then it would be extended for all of 2014. ![]() So how many cards have you gotten within the last ...say... 3 months? Approved: 1 Chase, 1 Amex, 2 Citi Pending: 1 BoA, 1 BoHA I have...5 Chase, 3 Citi, 3 Amex, 2 BoA, 1 Barclays, 1 Discover currently active. (Not including the 2 pendings which I'll call in to get approved, being lazy...) |

I think I'll be cutting back on my AMEX cards within the next year. Annual fees on those high-end charge cards are brutal. I feel like I'm forgetting a card or two. Coulda sworn I had something with Virgin Atlantic. I actually don't have anything United, that's something I'll work on at some point. |

Haha, yeah, it is the US Air one. Just saving it for a rainy day. If you have the card I guess it knocks down the award redemption by 5,000 miles. Figured I'd keep it for a year. I've heard of people getting it around 3 times a year!! and getting approved for a second one while they still had the first! CRAZY stuff!

Basically, if you get a business and a personal version (and get the 100,000 bonus) you are getting $1,666 worth of Wanna Get Away fares and you are only 10k points away from the companion pass. At that point, you can either spend on the card or buy the points (which would cost $250). Once you get the companion pass, the $1,666 of wanna get away fares transforms to $3,222 (since someone can always fly free with you). That's QUITE the deal....and can turn in to many, many flights! |

Also, the Premiere card has a 6K point bonus every year on your anniversary, so that offsets the $99 annual fee. The Plus card is only 3K points on your anniversary, or $50 dollar. That doesn't cover the $69 annual fee. If you are planning on keeping the card, the Premiere is the better deal. It should also be noted that you can use the points to get gift cards to stores. However, the best deal is using it for airfare. |

Thanks for the explanation OP. Highly appreciated! Won't let me rep you again though...
