Update: Finally got ahold of someone this morning, after being placed on hold for 15 mins...turns out I was correct in thinking something was amiss. Turns out they could only find a single box of product in their warehouse. The other product had turned up 'missing'. They would issue me a partial refund and told me they would try and ship by tomorrow. Now I'm going to have people angry with me for not being able to hold the large booster draft event (1 box is only enough product for a single pod).

I think turned up missing is code for, they found a local buyer and said screw it. Sold it right out from under me.

Yup, or it is a half@ss run organization that doesn't know how to inventory and did not account for how much actual inventory they actually had.

That or they put it in the wrong bin and will find the rest next time they go to pull some from the bin it's currently in.

I think you should be able to file a complaint on Amazon given that they are under contract to sell you the item, just as much as you are to make payment.

I still don't find how you can think that "something was amiss". You ordered on Friday and started to freak out on Monday when they didn't ship out yet. When you order online, these things happen all the time where it may take a bit of time (a week or so) for the warehouse to locate your item and to finally ship them out. And sometimes, they'll be out of stock on the item too.

I'm thinking that you don't order online much, right?

I order online, and without incident probably almost weekly...VERY rare to have issues with any of my usual venders. But that is risk you take when you trust new people.

I'm used to inventory systems, that say out of stock when something is out of stock. They have these things called bar codes, and you scan them...and it removed the item from inventory. Most big businesses used them these days. Hell even most small/medium businesses do so, they are pretty inexpensive now.

I find that hard to believe that you order items online on a weekly basis. Because, you reacted pretty crazy after ONE business day when the items didn't ship out yet.

Furthermore, either you're very lucky or lying. Because, ppl getting their online orders cancelled (or part of their orders) occur pretty regularly....especially with ppl on this website.

And whether the Amazon third-party vendor truly made a mistake with stock or it was a "euphemism" for "we sold it to someone else", that's just part of everyday life with the internet world. Sure, it sucks. But, it's really not a big deal.

Honestly, I think the vendor is lucky if you just cancel the order or the order was automatically cancelled. Right off the bat, you can often tell what kind of customer you're dealing with. And you seem to be very difficult.

I was merely venting...i don't know if some of the people here are trolling in order to drag out this topic or what. Think people are reading too much anger into what I'm saying. Frustrated is all.

Yeah, you can have those expectations with big and medium businesses that have online inventory systems and/or barcode scanners. However in this case you were ordering from a small book store in Durham, NC, which is likely more Mayberry like than Amazon like.

Forget about even comparing Mayberry to Amazon. There are plenty of big name retailers who can't get second-by-second, minute-by-minute inventory updates totally accurate. That's just the way it is.

Hence, when I order anything online, I don't consider it a done-deal until I get shipping confirmation. And even then, I still hold my breath until the box is physically in my hands.

Yeah but my point was he's ordering from Durham. I had a boss from there and every day we wondered how she managed to find her way to work, even though she'd been there 10+ years. She was also a senior buyer but still got stuck all the time on our very basic and fairly fool proof purchasing system.

At the education hub of Carolina I would assume much more educated folks (Wake Forest, Duke, North Carolina, and NC State are relatively close proximity).
