School plans are generally high-deductible, catastrophic type plans. I'm sure the university is bearing some of the cost as well. They're the type of plans that when you actually need to use it, you get pissed off that nothing is covered and blame the insurance company b/c you wanted to cheap out on insurance.
Either way, it's not your typical health insurance plan from your employer.
