Any experience w/ AAA and AA 1. Flight was changed from non-stop to a layover in Miami (traveling to Antigua) 2. For those of you in the tri-state area, I live in Central NJ and agreed to go out of JFK for the sole reason that it was non-stop No airport in in the area (Newark, Philadelphia, JFK, LGA) have non-stop to Antigua on the day I'm leaving (August 27). Needless to say, I'm pretty pissed about this. The flight we can take now leaves earlier, and gets to Antigua later. AAA basically said there's nothing they can do about any form of compensation for the inconvenience, so I took it upon myself to call AA. They agreed to move my departure location from JFK to EWR at no cost, and offered me a $50 voucher (yay..............). I tried fighting for a free upgrade to first class, nothing. In short, I'm trying to find out if anyone has any experience with something similar to this, and what was your outcome? Did you get anything more than a $50 voucher? Who knows if I'll ever fly AA again. I thought for sure, given their reputation, that AAA would do something on their end. I'm spending $7000 on my trip, the least they can do is compensate me somehow. I'm not trying to be cheap or else I wouldn't be spending this kind of money on the trip, but my honeymoon is now being inconvenienced because of this and I'm not happy at all (especially my soon-to-be wife). Are we talking batteries here? I found that AAA batteries can fit in AA slots, but they're not that reliable.

Stuff like this happens with anybody, I've had Expedia cancel on me. Basically the carrier screwed them all by canceling a flight. But if you talk to them, they typically accommodate you. Keep in mind that you didn't HAVE to accept their reschedule. You could have flat out canceled and they'd have to refund you every dime. What I ended up getting out of the deal was an itinerary change to the flight that was preferable to me at no charge, and a week later I changed my mind and they moved the flight (to an entirely different week this time) AGAIN at no charge. I didn't get anything extra though, they just waived fees.

I got the hotel charges removed but didnt bitch or complain for any extras. Its amazing how hard it is when you're just trying to make a flight...any flight. The airline did give us a few extra drink coupons for the Atlantic flight. Which was nice on their part.At least you got advance notice and not be a day late for it! |
