They do two things... one is blow air up into the laptop... so if you had this on a couch or your lap, it would benefit the laptop and your lap.

I don't have this particular model but mine sucks the air out rather than blowing the air up. Doesn't that sound like a better idea?

1. they don't blow air into the laptop. They blow air to impact the bottom of the laptop and then fly out the sides, thus accomplishing nothing.

2. It doesn't benefit the laptop [or your lap] any more than putting the laptop on a lap pillow or any other flat piece of material.

3. You can accomplish the same thing by affixing some little feet to the bottom of the laptop, thus allowing more air to flow beneath it. Also, all laptops are not created equal, which means this will fit one laptop but not another.

4. The only way the high angle improves comfort is if you have raised the laptop high enough that the angle of the laptop off of horizontal matches the angle that your arms tilt to access it. In other words, unless you're laying on your back or reclined backwards with the laptop raised over your head, this is actually WORSE for your wrists.

5. If your laptop's venting is clogged with dust and other debris, nothing is going to cool the laptop anyway, which means this is -- again -- useless.

Are you retarded? Do you not understand how airflow works? Blowing air up into a laptop is exactly what this does, because the vents are... on the bottom.

Have you never had a laptop on your lap for 30 minutes or more and not gotten hot from it?

Why would you affix additional rubber feet to a laptop, and why do you think extra rubber laptop feet are going to help anything if you've eliminated the only way a laptop has to cool itself by putting it on a pillow or your lap?

I don't know about you, but I'm not three apples tall and my torso height makes having this slightly angled on my lap much more comfortable to type on than if it were on my lap or something unstable like a pillow.

Why is this such a deal? It only has one 3.1" 80mm fan. It's barely worth $10.

I've seen so many reviews that say these things don't do anything. I'm inclined to believe them.

These cooling pads don't do anything. They're just gimmicks. You'd be better off buying some little feet to affix to the bottom so more air can flow.

big surprise that the laptop cooler that raised the laptop the highest -- got the lowest temperatures. Herp derp, guess I was right.

These coolers do nothing but raise the laptop, thus allowing better air flow. The fan does practically nothing.

Again, wouldn't the coolers dissipate heat better if the fans sucked the air out instead?
