I would never pay more than $90-100 for an Invicta. Decent watches, but definitely not great quality. I have an Invicta divers automatic watch and its decent. I use it as my everyday watch.
I have a nicer Omega for going out. |

I have never been able to justify spending a lot of money on a watch, they have a hard life with me, would love to own something like a Rolex but I would be frightened it would be damaged.
My five year old Pulsar quartz recently died ( a very disappointing timepiece, I got a Friday afternoon built one!! ) and have replaced it with a Seiko 5 automatic, had it for a month now and am very pleased with it so far, paid 60 bucks for it from Mr Watch and was more than happy with the service I received from them. Some of the Seiko quartz watches will last five years before a battery change ( my Pulsar barely lasted a year). One of the best pieces of advice that I saw was that unless you are buying a "quality" watch as in Rolex or better, Seiko for the money are the most reliable of the mass market watches ( I will put my tin hat on now!!!) |

Bumping this thread for a quick question.
Are designer watches, like Coach, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, etc. quality watches, or are you just paying for the name? I found a Coach watch I'm in love with, but I don't want to spend a lot of money on it if it's going to be a piece of shit. Good things fall apart so better things can fall together

I got it on EBay NIB for 50. Get compliments on it all the time and it is self winding |

What exactly do you want your Watch to accomplish. If it is needed to impress others during work or business meetings then it is another story. If you just want one that looks cool and simply just for you to tell time. Then pick whatever you want! Brand doesn't matter, if a watch looks absolutely amazing I would buy it and wear it even if it isn't a known brand.

Big lithium batteries (20mm diameter, same as motherboard batteries) can power a watch for 7-10 years, while smaller batteries may last only 2-3 years, whether they're lithium, silver, or alkaline. I believe silver and alkaline are interchangeable, with the silvers lasting longer.
Some watches need to be reset when the battery is changed or else they'll act crazy. |
