Just got mine today. Seems alright so far but haven't really done anything besides remove a few applications and install a few.
I am somewhat confused though...everywhere I see my graphics card listed it is showing the Mobile Intel HD Graphics card. Am I even using the Radeon card right now or is it defaulted to the Intel card? |

I can't believe this is the case, but the touchpad on this 15.6" version is noticeably worse than the one on the 14" Series 7 that I recently returned. Even the texture seems a bit different (more friction), but the cursor often jumps and seems to lag, even with reinstalled Elan drivers.
I'm hoping a clean install will fix some of the erratic behavior (I now have also encountered unintended dragging), but the touchpad itself will still feel less than comfortable. Keep in mind I am comparing it only to the touchpad on the 14" version, which I should think is identical.
BTW, the keyboard is still great. Typing this post has been quite a pleasure. But the touchpad is a real disappointment; I expected much better. |

like my old laptop...
How does your laptop handle it when you do that? My fan starts running crazy and my laptop gets pretty hot so that it's very uncomfortable to put it on my lap. Please share your experience Thank you Last edited by courtesyclerkx; 07-26-2012 at 01:41 PM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Trackpad was bad for me initially. Then upgraded to latest drivers and put more finger oil all over the trackpad. I think it was more finger oil than anything else. All smooth now. Two finger scroll is responsive, three finger swipe for page back and forward is also smooth. I put the touchpad icon in the taskbar which shows how many fingers it is detecting.
Anyways, Synaptics is releasing a new trackpad sensor called "jedeye" in august. Here's a demo on that http://www.acm.org/uist/uist2012/contest.html Will be interesting to see what's up. |

Received my laptop today, besides the track pad, everything else is great! Screen was slightly washed out, but after using the icc profile from a user on notebookreview, it looks awesome. Keep in mind that I'm coming from 1366 x 768 resolution laptops. Here's the link to the thread.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/s...ofile.html Another weird thing about this laptop is, none of the pre-installed apps show up on the "Startup" tab for msconfig. Tried using ccleaner to view it, but still don't see anything. Anyone know a way to access them? There seems to be quite a lot of crap on startup that I usually don't need, i.e. bluetooth. recovery solution, etc. |
