Similarly, Amazon is doing buy 3 K&N oil filters, get the 4th free. Ends on July 31st also. The cost of an individual filter might be a little cheaper on Amazon than at Pep Boys.

That's a good deal. I've always been suspicious of K&N filters though. About 50% of the people and tests say they are fine, and the other half says they do not do a good job of filtering and more airflow = more pollutants and particles getting into your engine. I lean more towards more air = more crap myself.

Nice deal! My Jeep takes 6 quarts of oil - the oil + filter deals that the auto parts stores have weekly almost always only include 5 quarts, forcing me to buy the extra quart of synthetic oil at full price, making the deal not so sweet. Now I buy 6 qt packs of Mobil 1 from BJs Wholesale (New England area) when they go on sale for $30 and buy the filters separately. With this deal I can be stocked up on high quality oil and filters for a while! Repped.

Personally, I've really liked K&N oil filters. I wouldn't use their air filters in my stuff, but their oil filters are quite nice. I use them in my Saab simply because they have a backflow preventer (as the OEM does) and no other filters available locally do (the Saab dealer is 45 minutes away.) I also use them on my BMW r1200st.
One advantage of K&N over the other guys is that the nut welded on to the "top" of their oil filters. a) Those let you loosen an oil filter without special tools and b) it lets you wire your oil filter in place for track days for tracks that require that (not useful for most people, but still something to consider for some). K&N gets a bad rap because of their air filters, but their oil filters are great. |
