Thread Details

Not a smoking deal or anything, but I have been trying to lower my cable bill and decided to just drop my existing customer triple play offer of $99 + tax and go with just internet.. I saw a deal for $30 just internet good for a year and tried to sign up as new customer online, and the lame site said some representative will call me.. Sure enough some guy called me this morning and while trying to upsell me he mentioned a couple of good offers that weren't on their website. I didn't want the phone service and have never seen cablevision give a deal on just internet and TV and so I thought I'll share.

First you have to call for these offers (and it could be YMMV). The number to call is: 1-866-663-5658 (put in your phone number and enter 0 for extension).
  1. First deal: just internet + io Preferred package (1 step above the io family) = 30 + 46 = 76/mo + cost of cablecard or box.
  2. Second Deal: internet + io family + phone = 70/mo + cost of cablecard or box

The second deal is apparently only available in select areas (presumably the areas supported by FIOS).

Hope this post helps someone Smilie

I think all cable service providers include HD for no additional charge.

I highly doubt this is legit. They won't go below $90 a month

This is for new customers only. My current service is with my wife's name, so I signed up as new customer with my name for the internet + io preferred package... This is legit.
The second offer, he tried to give it to me, but once I gave him my address, he said unfortunately that offer is not available for my address (i live in an apartment, and my only option is optimum, no fios).

Btw, i had the 70/mo for triple play package for about 2 years, which they offered us when we only had internet service with them and had dish for tv.... they have offers which they don't advertise.

especially if you are an existing satellite customer. they offer ~ 79 and try to get $$ for each box and remote. the orig offer is $62.99 plus equipment rental and it is for 2 years

Just call them up and tell them you want to cancel your service and they'll transfer you to retentions. Tell them you signed up to Verizon or whatever competitor already and you want to cancel your service. I always ask for a disconnect day like 3 weeks ahead so I can always call back and say I don't want to cancel in case the retentions doesn't go well. But usually they will counter a new offer for you before you hang up. Make sure you know of the Verizon or competitor plan in your area as they'll ask you what you signed up for. Tell them you signed up just before you called as they'll check if they received a phone number disconnect request, they won't have received it that quickly.

Just a few months ago they reduced my bill from $130 to $100 and gave me 2 extra boxes, showtime, encore, and optimum boost which changed my internet from 15Mbps to 50 which was pretty nice.

Not the best deal but I'm happy with it until next year when they jack up my service!

According to my pricing method for optimum it should be $80 for basic triple play including DVR, Boost and showtime. Then add $7 per box and $6 for encore. So yes it is the same deal as I got in January. Anyway today I decided I didn't need cable and now that I have unlimited minutes on T-mobile I can cut voice too.

I cancelled all services after an hour negotiating, then literally a half hour later they called back and gave me Optimum online for $30 and free boost plus for one year.

That's less than half the current customer pricing of $50 for 15/2 and $15 for boost!

All in all I would say you have a great deal if you are truly utilizing all of your services.
