Logitech Harmony 650 Remote Universal Remote Control (refurb)- Silver for $39.99 w/FS

I'm on the fence about getting one of these for my mom who's up there in age and doesn't want to have to keep using 2-3 remotes to watch a DVD and have the surround sound on. However, this seems to be the earlier of two version, which is quite buggy and has issues with the battery compartment design.

I really want to pull the trigger on this, but the Newegg and Amazon reviews just won't let me do it.

I've had this remote for a couple of months, and no major complaints. Buttons are nice, LCD is backlit, and it's firmware upgradeable. Only major benefit of the higher models is more devices (this one supports 5), a color screen, and rechargeable battery. Paid about $40 as well, and it's worth that IMO.

Do you have the 915-000114 version or the 915-000159?

If this thing would do more than 5 remotes, I would be all over it. Thanks, OP!

It gets me how Logitech limits these remotes on the number of remotes they replace. I have a 620 that will do 15 remotes but we've about worn it out. I guess they limit these so the public will buy Harmony Ones. : P

Be careful on the refurbs. Sometimes if they are listed as defective on the website, it will not update.

I bought the refurb 650 for $29.99 last month and it's been great.

I bought this remote (Model #915-000114) new from TigerDirect year and half ago and it is a good remote but it's been a mixed bag. I have four devices (Dish receiver, TV, DVD player and WDTV Live) it controls and it does a good job. The software (PC or Mac) makes it very easy to update firmware and to reprogram. There are a lot of options available to modify each action and each devices, but every 3-4 days I have to use "HELP" to re-set one or two of those devices. Drop the remote or jostle it and it resets itself. I would recommend rechargeable batteries otherwise you'll be replacing conventional batteries every couple of weeks.
