The refurb went back, ate $13 in shipping. Bought one from Frys and PM to Bestbuy. Got the one from Bestbuy with a free 8 GB card.

Now I am having serious thoughts about the whole deal. I have spent around $1000 OTD on my first DSLR. I did use the camera for a while, pictures are amazing but felt it was a bit heavy. Is this for a novice user? Should I be getting 4/3 instead and then graduating to a DSLR? Thanks for anyone's advice.

It's a great camera and perfectly suitable for anyone from a novice to an advance user.
The pictures should get even more amazing as you continue to learn and even more so later as you ad better lenses.
A DSLR cannot be always carried with you, but neither can a 4/3. Neither is at all pocket sized. In my opinion, once you go 4/3 size and if you are not carrying around a large purse that could fit a 4/3, you might as well go DSLR.
Because neither is pocket size, I also have a Canon S100 that I always carry in my pocket. (A Canon S95 would work great too at a lower price).
