In case you are near a Fry's store, it shows it is on sale again now for $499 on www.frys.com. Order online & pickup in the store. They don't charge your card until pickup. If you charge on a Visa that has Warranty Protection Manager as a perk, you automatically get a free 1 yr warranty extention and can secure a 3 or 5 yr extended warranty for a fraction of what it costs from Square Trade.

Since almost everything you'd view is recorded at 60hz, there shouldn't be any real noticeable difference between this and a 120 hz or higher TV that marketing departments would have us believe.

We've used this TV for a week and love it. Like Samsung TVs, it has a great picture and speakers are good enough to not need a soundbar. It is also energy efficient for an LCD, using twice the electricity of an LED, not 4x as much. The $15 extra I'll pay annually in electricity is cheaper than the extra cost of a similar LED TV.

7/21 UPDATE: Fry's 7/21 1-day sale ad shows on sale for $729, but price online at www.frys.com is still $499. So, you could try to order online for in-store pickup and see if that works..

From what a few people said (included a member here), the speaker are down facing so they should be alright for bedroom. Way better than the back speakers.

If you want to wait a week until I get mine from TD, I'll let you know

I thought to be a 3D HDTV it has to be least 120Hz, was I wrong? This is very tempting but I'm concerned about the 60Hz.

Maybe you should voice your concerns about 60Hz to LG's engineering department and let us know what they say.

it's hard to resist a 47" 3D HDTV at this price, so just called Amazon and they price matched it to Frys for $499 shipped. Now will wait and see how the TV performs.

They actually gave it to you $499 shipped? They doesn't add shipping to it?

Crazy, they added $120 shipping for me since that's what Frys charges to ship to NY.

Yes I was prepared to pay at least $50 shipping after reading some other threads about price matching this TV. But when I called Amazon, the rep I spoke to never brought up the shipping charge issue, she just asked me where I'd like to price match to (told her Frys.com). A min later she came back and said the PM was approved and agreed to give me $499 shipped. I was surprised too and couldn't believe it at first. She even waited for me to place the order online (at the regular price $599), then she adjusted the price to $499 and I got a confirmation instantly. The whole proces went extremely smooth and only took a few mins.

I think it all depends on who you talk to, each person is different. Maybe you should try calling them again to argue about the $120 shipping (I'd tell them I could pick up the TV at my local Frys for free). Also Amazon is selling this TV now for $599 with free shipping, if you paid $499+$120 shipping, that would be over $600, you should still get them to refund you some money.

Well TD shot down a price match even though they specifically stated they price match TVs as they said it's too low for them to PM. I told them I would like to cancel the order and switch my order to Amazon, they said they would request a package intercept if I would like.

Let's see if Amazon would give me the PM without shipping. Too bad they are closed now.

I jus recieved mine from Frys 24 hours ago. It is the perfect size and I love the picture! However I am comparing it to a low end 47" proscan.

I somehow got the TV through Frys shipping for onle $30, and I too live hundreds of miles away. I dont know how that worked but thats what showed up in checkout so I processed it befor something changed.

Back to the TV, I was surprised that it has a 2D to 3D function. I thoguht you could only use the 3D function on 3D channels and what not. The 3D works very well but I personally do not like the effect. I am still waiting to watch a 3D movie on my bluray player. It will be an actual 3D disc and player not a 2D to 3D conversion. I assume the quality will be a little better. The glasses however are cheap, expected I know. Only a tier above what you would get at a movie theater.

I do not know about the sound of the speakers, I have it setup through surround sound. If your that worried I can check it once I get home tonight. I assume with a name like LG it will be of quality, even though this is a lower end model.

None the less I am stoked to have this TV for sub $550. Great pickup and I beleive will last me a while.

One more thing. there is a stupid accent sticker at the bottom of the TV. It runs accross the bottom of the front side (TV not screen) I guess to add some kind of visual effect. I attempted to take it off but then realized it was suppose to be there and not put on for shipping. I feel like a simple sticker is very cheap and inefficient. If you cant afford see thru glass or something like that in which my base model bedroom samsung has (at the bottom as well), dont add anything. A sticker is just insulting to put on a $500+ electronic appliance. This isnt legos.

I received my TV a few days ago, overall I'm very happy about it. I'm fine with the 2D-3D feature (even surprised it has a feature like this considering it's a 60Hz TV). As for the 3D glasses, it's just a 3D glasses and I have nothing to complain about. It's based on passive technology, same as the glasses you'd get at movie theaters. You can't compare it to the active glasses since the latter are much more expensive and they are two different technology, not to mention I've read a lot of reviews actually prefer the passive 3D. As for the sound from the TV, it actually sounds pretty decent. It's loud and crisp clear, better than the previous Panasonic 3D TV's sound. For under $500 I don't think you can find a better deal than this.

Also received mine a few days ago and am very pleased. I tried HBO on Demand 3D and the 3D actually looks great. The 2D -> 3D is a nice novelty to have as well, but actual 3D does look very good.

While watching the Olympics, I did notice some blur however, during Tennis mostly. I'm curious what the response time on the TV is.

Overall, for $540 total, this is a great TV.
