Some companies rate a 500 W PSU as 1000 W but Seasonic NEVER does that.

One gripe I have about Seasonic PSU is their cables are not very flexible to work with, especially when you try to manage and tuck away and hide your cables.

not to threadcrap, but if I had to choose between a rosewill capstone 450W and this PSU at the same price, I would go with the capstone. Better efficiency and also has great reviews.
Now, this is cheaper than the capstone right now, so it's a perfectly legit deal... but it's not super hot or anything

This rosewill capstone is a better PSU than this seasonic.
It's just as high end and just as modular and better efficiency.

(Of course, it has nothing on Seasonic X series, but thats another story)

There is nothing wrong with superflower. Check out the johnnyguru forums =)

EDIT2: it's worth noting that seasonic obviously wins out on the warranty. There is no debating that.

Been looking for a quality psu for a budget rig for the GF. Repped!

Stability and long term reliability are more important in a PSU than ultimate efficiency.
Both of these PSUs are efficient enough.
The difference is that Rosewill just doesn't have the stability and reliability track record (good or bad) like Seasonic does.
And even a low end Seasonic is still pretty darn good.

This is a better product at this point in time.

That's like saying a girl is too pretty.

You should be happy they aren't super thin cables like many manufacturers out there.

I'm building a budget gaming system (AMD Phenom II X4 3.4GHz SLI GTX 460 1GB). Would this psu be able to handle that? I think it might be 50w-100w short.

It would be fine with the parts you are considering unless you want to overclock the videocards.

Hmmmm, how does the PC Power and Cooling Silencer MK III 500W Modular (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6817703035) compare with this? Right now new egg has them for 79.99 -$20 prepaid card from OCZ - $15 "gift card" from new egg (usable only at new egg though) so an effective total if you're a new egger of 44.99 it's 20 watts lower powered, but supposedly quite quiet. It's going into a HTPC whose power supply is starting to go (mini tower, not slim tower so 3rd party power supply should work damn dells.) They are more or less the same size so would theoretically work equally. However the seasonic does have 2 12v rails which could in theory be useful for voltage regulation if I ever went dual video card. However the MK III in several reviews maintained efficiency well beyond 80% so a single rail could be fine.

So, ether: any feelings? (I swear this is going to cause me to end up building a new system....) I'm thinking perhaps this unit will be quiet enough + the added bonus of not having to wati for prepaid cards, etc pushes me towards this one. (Then I can start pondering larger video cards as the slickdeals come to use the extra 220W of power over current PSU

No chance this could run GTX 560ti (standard version) in SLI, could it?

NO! You are cutting it way way way too close....well...technically. Full load you'll likely be within 10 watts or so of 520watts. Keep in mind thats full load, achieving full load in the game you are playing isn't likely but if you were to say run synthetic benchmarks like furmark or something that'll be too close for comfort.

Edit: BTW I love seasonic power supplies. I always aim for seasonic or a seasonic rebranded as a diff company like corsair (some models) for example.
