I tired to convince Amazon that I didn't want their WG service and to just drop off the box. They said I didn't have to use the full service but I still had to pay for it. I've been 99.9 percent happy with Amazon for all the years I've used them but they will lose this sale because for the $100 difference I can buy a BR player.

Well Adorama has this TV for $1,799 and my total charge from Amazon after the WG is $1,599 so Amazon is still cheaper.

I could have ordered from Paul's w/o White Glove. But from Amazon, they will bring it into my house (which I can't do by myself), they will set it up to make sure it isn't broken, have free return shipping, and I can schedule a Saturday delivery so I don't have to take any time off work. Plus, I can use the Amazon gift cards I have been purchasing at gas stations this month with my Chase Freedom for the 5% back to pay for it. How does this compare to Paul's standard shipping?

Pauls aint matching Panny EPP...just tried via online chat with David.

i bought mine this morning from amazon. even with the $100 difference, i guess i feel more peace of mind knowing that if there's a problem after they unbox it and turn it on, they'll haul it off with them, if i'm not happy with it, i can return it with ease and, finally, i had a little credit with amazon and my amazon visa knocks a tiny bit off. i nearly bought the tv from pauls but after reading reseller ratings reviews [resellerratings.com] i got cold feet.

Awesome, thank you for posting this. I had been checking all day and it even crossed thought my mind to check now before I click on my favorites to SD filtered for TV but figured it wouldn't have gotten adjusted at this late hour and came here to read updates instead.

My plan was to call them tomorrow morning which would have been 2, 3 hours before Paul sale ends and do manual PM but now I was able to order from Amazon without a hassle of phone call and still having a future PM possibility. (Amazon's policy says you can only PM once)

Since I'm in VA with sales tax, Paul's was going to be $1,574.99 for me. $25 more to get from Amazon with 14 day price match, 30 day FREE return (with Paul you pay shipping AND 15% restocking fee), and white glove delivery? YES PLEASE!

just curious, has anyone ever actually dealt direct with panasonic for a tv purchase? sounds pretty rough going based on reseller ratings. i managed to get a discount account set up and even after tax i think i'd probably save a little on some models but not others.

do the new Panasonic Plasmas have the split screen function?

hmm, 5% cashback easy to get from them, vs 2% from paul. 3% difference reduces comparable price to be 1470 for Paul's vs around 1492 adorama. Any coupons for either to break the near "tie"?

Nevermind - saw your earlier answer about it being possibly be a 51 inch. Then it must be the PN51D490 which is 51 inch 720p model. That TV is not even close to being in the same league.

yeah it seems like on SD lot of people don't even look at features/specs, just see 50 inch for $1000 and call it expensive because they can get haier for $500..hah....

After some reflection, I'm gonna keep waiting. My old set still works, I need to do some planning & prep to accommodate a big new one, and most importantly, I feel in my gut that an even better deal for this is not too far away, we've already seen this price point a few times.
