Finally got the 50" ST50 delivered by Amazon (price matched with Paul). Now I am running the slides so that I can take advantage of the professional settings. Broadwayblue is right. The TV is nice but too small and only good for daytime viewing. However, I can't think of paying twice for 65" when a comparable projector setup with bigger screen would be optimal for nighttime viewing.

at large screen sizes they're much more forgiving (image blur instead of pixelation) as well as being a bit cheaper. Also I wish I had the bedroom that went with broadwayblue's 60" TV, but I had to make room for the servants quarters and the tennis court.

My bedroom is hardly palatial. Sure you need another foot or two of wall space to physically accommodate the 60", but it's not like we're talking double the size of a 50" or 42"...and most people are going to be at least 8' to 10' from the wall when watching tv in bed. If I'm 12' from my 112" screen in my living room I don't see what's crazy about being 10' from a 60" display in the bedroom. Anyway, I don't have the 60" in my bedroom. I bought it for my parents who use it as their living room TV...and love it. But as I said, once you get used to a 100"+ screen as your every day TV you aren't going to want to go back to a 60" set, except for perhaps in your bedroom. |

My 50ST50 showed up today but the surge protector is still in route. I have Prime, but the 2 day service was foiled by gremlins or something. It's nice the Amazon rep added an extra month to my Prime acct for the inconvenience. TV showed up via Pilot and the box looked pristine. The delivery guy Skyler was very friendly and yet professional - truly a white glove experience. He easily beat the delivery guys from BB and the delivery drivers from Ultimate Electronics (when they still existed). He was in no hurry and very helpful. Waiting for the surge protector and then start the D-Nice panel prep. Hopefully by Tuesday night it will be calibrated and ready for the Olympics (a little late I know).

I had the 55ST50 delivered this morning from Best Buy. I price matched to Fry's to get it for $1200. It's incredible! I love it.
By the way, Sears has the compatible Samsung SSG-4100GB 3D glasses for $12.79 right now. Pretty good savings over Amazon if you are buying several of them! |

If your preference is a 120" projector, why are you buying a Plasma in the first place? Of course you aren't going to get the same size and immersion from a 50", but at least you can watch tv during the day outside of a cave/theater unlike a projector. FYI, the PQ on this plasma is worlds better than any DLP projector can achieve, and yes even at night. Nighttime viewing only enhances the picture. To make a statement that it is only good in the day is asinine. |

can I ask you guys how you proceed with a price match to paul's tv at amazon? do you buy the TV online first on amazon's site and then phone in for the price match, or do you make the purchase after the price match over the phone? Also, what is the ph # for amazon to call? I'm interested in the 55ST50 which is $1249 on pauls's and $1349 on amazon.
