SH!TTY CARD.
I'm on my THIRD RMA from Amazon (who kick major ass, BTW, and have been absolutely amazing throughout this process). If you're seriously looking at a 670, look elsewhere - I have found this card overall to be loud and an abysmal overclocker, and the second one I received ran Solitaire at 54 degrees. Celsius. From an idle temp of 33C with an ambient room temp of 68F. My latest RMA arrived yesterday, will test/bench today and if it's another dud/hair-dryer then I'll refund and wait for the Asus. Suggest others do the same. |

However, making comments without understanding Kepler overclocking just makes you look . This thing called "reading comprehension" wouldn't be a bad concept to look into either since the cards didn't die. Because they can't be overvolted. Last edited by serra; 07-21-2012 at 06:00 PM.. |

These FTW 670's are known to be inferior 670's. JS'n
"Despite being overclocked slightly higher, the EVGA GTX 670 FTW loses out to ASUS's GTX 670 DirectCU II TOP. The reason for this is ASUS's impressive dual-fan cooler; it allows the core to keep sufficiently cool, which in turn enables NVIDIA's integrated GPU Boost technology to kick in and eke out that extra ounce of performance." ~Hexus.net http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/gra...w/?page=10 Go Asus for better quality cooling, end up with better results overall. |

I heard the ASUS ones have had some issues in the newegg reviews, and they are completely sold out right now. I heard one person who RMA theirs said that ASUS has a new batch coming out in Mid to late August - I didn't want to wait that long. So I decided to go with the Gigabyte one. Got 2 for SLI, upgraded from 2 470s. 1 670 ran almost as well as my 2 470s OCd, and these things are absolutely SILENT. The thing Idles at 36c and hasn't gone over 75c full load. I love it...

I got the gigabyte too and despite the fact that mine doesn't overclock as well as many other gigabytes, I'm quite happy. My max stable clock is 1194mhz (which includes the Kepler boost as well as +70 to the core) and +600mhz on the memory. Anything over 1200mhz BF3 will black screen on me after maybe 15 minutes though it does pass Heaven. Other gigabyte owners have gotten 1300+ stable so it's really a lottery but the fact that it doesn't go over 60 degrees in BF3 and I can maintain 75-80fps average on all ultra settings at 1920x1080 makes me a happy customer.
Hopefully newer drivers will boost performance further. |

Before you go singing the praises of the ASUS TOP, best swing over to Overclocker.net [overclock.net]and see the shenanigans people have been putting with for this card. ASUS issued a new BIOS update that downclocks the card because the factory overclock was not stable. The lottery post [overclock.net]is also interesting to see what others are getting from their overlocking.
FWIW I've got the ASUS non-TOP and it's quiet, cool and fast. It's stable at 1284 mhz GPU clock / 3402 mhz memory clock with a peak temp of 58c. Last edited by Darkmatter; 07-22-2012 at 07:09 AM.. |
