I found a mention on the Internet about $5 Living Social virtual money signup bonus, but seems like they've eliminated that now (*Edit: I realize some people are reading my post and could be misled as I was, so I'm updating with new info I only discovered after posting this. Apparently the signup referral bonus is still working. Must signup through referral link. New account will get 5 deal bucks but for the original referrer to also get 5 deal bucks, the new account must buy a deal of at least $5.01.) I never get a chance to take advantage of these food deals, but I signed up this time and bought it even though it cost money as opposed to the earlier free deals like GrubHub.

Was one of the first to see the GrubHub $10 value free deal, but all restaurants around me were closed at 11pm. By the time the ones I had my eyes on were open, GrubHub had shut it down. Then they restored it a few hours later but I didn't see that news until too late.

The other was the Seamless deal I think, which didn't have any good restaurants near my place.

So I checked out the restaurants that were available for this deal. Seems to have some that were not too bad. I eat out occasionally when working as a way to reward myself so hopefully I'll be able to put this one to good use. Worst thing that can happen is wasting $1 OR spending a few bucks for so-so food I guess.

Thanks for sharing Tofu Vic. Reading some of the earlier posts, your incredibly friendly and patient attitude towards some of the unblievely peevish members is simply amazing.

Some credit card companies and providers have such a feature, but many do not at the moment. Bank of America has ShopSafe, Citibank/Citicards has Virtual Account Numbers, and Discover Card has Secure Online Account Numbers.

I personally like Citibank's, and have heard great things about Bank of America's, but DiscoverCard's service does not have as many options (it works perfectly fine for this deal though).

Virtual cards take different addresses ? how are people replicating this deal 20 times.. can't get it to work with a second card on a diff acct.. how do u change the address for a credit card BTW !

You don't. LivingSocial does not check credit card names, addresses, and zip codes. In fact, you can check out without even entering any addresses, but I found that LivingSocial catches on to that quickly, so it's safer to enter bogus information.
