Why Won’t Romney Release More Tax Returns?

All I want people to know is his net worth nothing else matters. His taxes will just show how little he pays every year compared to the middle class. I believe people should be taxed on their net worth and not on their income

Obviously not everyone can be wealthy. The old saying goes that a rich man has killed his share of people on his way to the top. Romney would be a great president...if you are rich. There is obviously something wrong when people don't want to level the playing field. Now I am part of the top 20% of our nation and I don't think anybody should be denied the same opportunities as I have had. The limited social mobility is the only problem I see with the policies of those stupid conservatives.

Seems to me if the rich bought the political system they would set it up better than to have to pay just about all of the taxes while just about half of the *cough* *cough* "poor" people don't pay anything. So for our choice of a Leader we have to choose between an honest law-abiding candidate or one who violates the Constitution on a regular basis and doesn't understand how the balance of power applied to the role of President.

For me, the choice isn't that difficult.

Why should any candidate release tax returns? Is the implication that the candidate broke a law (if so, the IRS may eventually catch up with them)? Has anybody here ever been asked to show their tax returns when applying for a job?

If you don't like the tax laws, then ask your congressperson to change them.

This is just more evidence of the lowering of the American IQ and our 5 second sound bite addiction.

The "hate the rich" crowd rarely has anything to say about the money exchanging hands on the Left side of the political spectrum.

I suppose they just like to pretend it doesn't exist.

They haven't owned it forever. They're trying to change the progressive nature of income taxes and Romney (if elected) would be a large step toward that end.

In what way has Obama "violated the Constitution" that Romney won't continue?

Because all the past Presidential winners have released 6 or more years of tax returns.

The lowering of the IQ is the people who agree with Romney when he asks to be trusted that he's an honest guy.

He may have made that calculation, but I doubt if it was correct.

He will end up releasing more and it will do more damage closer to the election.

Right now, he would rather the subject of discussion be the economy rather than what's in his tax returns. He's gambling that he can tamp down discussion of why he won't release them. And from the responses here, he will do that for his base but not for the undecideds.

I can't say for sure that everything Romney will do will be what I hope for, but am completely certain that Obama won't stop trying to destroy the country.

I'm sure if Obama was really trying to "destroy the country" he could do a much better job-just eliminate financial system regulations like Clinton did and Bush continued....the banks would continue to rape the economy for short term profits resulting in another disasterous crash with even less debt raising ability to bail us out.
