Should people like Holmes & Loughner even deserve a trial? I'm not sure what the cost of big trials like the one for Jared Loughner (Tucson shooter) or John Holmes (Colorado shooter) are but what annoys me is that the media reports always refer to him as the "alleged shooter". If there are plenty of witnesses and/or cameras that have caught him doing the act why bother even giving him a trial? All of the trials/hearings/proceedings/mental evaluations cost money right? Why bother when it is obvious they were the shooters? Sure if the evidence isn't obvious (like in Zimmerman's case, I don't know whether or not the evidence is clear in that case because I'm not too familiar with it but it sounds like it isn't). Also, what jury would find either of the two shooters (Holmes/Loughner) innocent? Am I missing something or is it just a complete waste of time and money giving these two a trial? |

Well some of you can ask Obama to authorized a hit on Holmes then...After all he has the sole authority now to do just that
Cause its always awesome when the side who holds itself as being better and just and fair stoop to the same level as those it seeks to punish.. when evil fights evil, let me know what good will being the winner be...

A trial is helpful to determine the final charges, and thus the sentencing for those charges.
The news says "alleged" due to the small chance they might get in legal trouble by not saying "alleged." Everyone deserves a trial. Some people may just have much speedier and open-and-shut ones than other people. Joe Biden says Buy a Shotgun! Wackiness ensues! [youtu.be]

Yes they deserve a trial. Even when there is overwhelming evidence they are the shooter, there may not be overwhelming evidence to their state of mind. This will speak to their sentencing. In Arizona there is not a "not guilty by reason of insanity" but there is a verdict "guilty but insane".
If I appear to be ignoring your posts, it's probably because you are on my ignore list.

I fhink that if the state is going to hand out punishment, the person they're punishing should get a trial, and have their guilt proven beyond a reasonable doubt. The punishments, if proven guilty, should be reflective of the state laws at the time that the crime(s) were committed. (In the case of these two, IMO there's little, if any, doubt as to whether or not they shot and killed people)
If one has to abide intolerance to be considered tolerant, then the word loses it's meaning.

If you're a psychopath and open fire on innocent people and kill them in cold blood, you get a trail.
If you're a psychopath and openly rob innocent people and confiscate their life savings and wealth, you get 3 weeks in Saint Tropez and new Benz. There is no Rule of Law. There is no law. There is no morality. There is no justice. It's all brokeded. |
