Any free ways to make calls over the internet?
I know there are pay services out around, but is there a free way I can make and receive calls over wifi, and I am given a normal phone number?

Google Voice is free until at least the end of this year. And it's great.

I think iPhone and/or Droid has an app that allows using Google Voice via your phone's data/using the GV website through your browser. Other phones, like Microsoft ones, can't use GV right off the GV website with a browser. At least they couldn't the last time I checked around six months ago. Maybe someone came up with a fix now. |

Though you can turn off any call forwarding and things later even if GV does require a phone number for verification or whatever. |

There is an Android app called GrooveIP that makes calls over internet using Android devices using Google voice

Do you know of a way to sign up with google voice without having to give my phone number? I already used my cell number with google voice a while ago, and you can't use the same number twice. |

If you use google voice, you can only call for free using gmail. You do have to have a cell phone number to signup though. It does not use your phones data plan normally. It calls google first and then forwards your call basically. It still costs you however many minutes it would cost to call your google number.
