Costco.com has Dolica Proline 60" Carbon Fiber Tripod with Ball Head (ZX600B103) for $79.99 with free shipping. Thanks khoin
Note: Non-members pay an extra 5% surcharge and get it for $83.99 |

Crap, I brought this a month ago for $99, but haven't used it. Do they do price adjustment? I know I can return it, but then I would have to eat the $10 non-member's fee. $10 is not worth the trouble to do a return/rebuy.
This is a very decent tripod. I don't like the twist extension (I prefer the flip tabs, since I can see them open/shut), but I like the fact that this doesn't have spikes, and the ballhead is removable along with the center shaft, reducing the total length to under 20", which help make this airplane carry-on friendly. So this is a ZX600B300 with a lighter ball head?
If so, just a heads up, even though it's "carbon fiber", it's not exactly "amazingly light".But for $80, it's probably about as good as it gets outside of unusual sales, I would guess... THIS SPACE IS FOR RENT. SEND PM FOR TERMS AND RATES.

This looks like an excellent tripod based on the reviews:
http://reviews.costco.com/2070/11...TextLength This is the first time I've seen a a quality carbon fiber tripod for this low of a price. Thank you OP! |

I think the mentioned aluminum tri-pod actually weight less! They are both rated for ~13 Lbs and both have the same quick release system. The carbon fiber legs actually causes me some grief since I have to be gentle handling it. steel and aluminum will bend and dent. I'm not sure if carbon fiber will dent, or will it crack. |

I saw one tripod at B&M store, but can't remember the brand, only it was $99. The head works great, compare to all the tripods I have (no ball head), it's really impressive that how easy you can twist around to different position. Anyone know the model of the B&M one?

That is a Sunpak pistol grip I believe http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pro...pod_w.html or http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pro...arbon.html Last edited by Vpsychward1; 07-23-2012 at 01:04 PM.. |

Composites typically don't handle damage well, such as for example a little nick on a hockey stick shaft. One decent nick and the shaft is inevitably doomed, whereas a aluminum stick would be fine with a similar nick. Of course a tripod would be loaded differently. I would definitely be more careful about damage with a carbon fiber tripod than with an aluminum one. The legs and center section (everything minus the ball head) of this tripod weighs 42 oz. Edit: and the length with ballhead removed is a hair over 20" (maybe 20 1/8"). Dimensions and weight basen on the ZX600B300. Last edited by GunMan; 07-23-2012 at 01:16 PM.. |

I bought this one a few months ago. Here are my reviews
1) Im not a fan of the twisting of the legs to make them longer because I have to twist them real hard to lock them in place and I never have a good feeling that they are locked in place ![]() 2)Its really not that light weight because I think they ball and head are pretty heavy 3)Feels cheap expect for the Carbon fiber legs. 4) honesly I have a canon 50d with a vertical battery grip on it with a 70-300 len and I really dont think the specs for the weight isnt a big deal. I could be wrong with it. Its a good tripod but remember you get what you paid for. |

FYI...Was a hot deal at $99.99 back in Jan this year. Might be some helpful info in that thread.
Edit: Anyone know of an inventory checker for Costco? |
|
Also, Dolica link is here [globalwrx.com]. Not much info, but it looks like it is sold through Ingram Micro. Could Costco have picked up some "overstock" from them?
