Anyone know anything about Verizon contracts?
I had the iPhone 4 on Verizon, but decided to cancel and pay the ETF. The phone is worth more than the ETF. I didn't really use it much and Verizon was irritating me by charging me late fees when I paid two days late. They can have their $10, but will lose $750 in revenue. It's their choice I guess. I decided to go back to T-Mobile prepaid where I was a happy camper for years. I bought a Lumia 710. It's not the greatest phone, but I like the W7P interface and the price was right. So, onto my question, I cancelled on the 19th. Actually, I tried to cancel at the beginning of the month, but when I went to the Verizon store, they said my PIN wasn't right. I could have sworn I paid the first month when I got the phone, but now they're telling me the billing cycle is a month behind. I'll be on the hook for this months bill and part of next months bill. Does that sound right? I want to get onto selling the phone. How soon can I do that? I presume I'll have to have the pay all the fees on it before it's good to go? I'd like to get this sold before the iPhone 5 comes to the forefront and my phone takes a good hit in value. Oh, I dropped my Lumia 710 like the fourth day I had it. It looked at right away and it seemed no worse for the wear, but I saw a few days it has a crack in the glass. I presume the warranty if there is any doesn't cover this? It never hurts to ask. I found a replacement on eBay for around $30 and a video showing how to do it. It doesn't seem too bad, but is there anything I should be on the look out for when buying the replacement glass? Thanks for any help. We all find out who we are when nobody's looking.

Not sure about the contract part of your question. As for selling it I would wait until your account is paid off and closed and make sure VZ did not black list the ESN (stolen or delinquent accounts) because that would be a show stopper for most people.
As for your new phone, does the touchscreen still work? There is two parts to a screen the glass and the digitizer (touch part), you might have to replace both and in some cases the digitizer is permanently glued to the glass so do a bit of research and make sure you can replace just the glass or if you have to replace the whole thing. |

This sounds right, my Verizon corporate bill pays for the month previous, that's how they know you used X number of minutes, sent X texts, and used X Data. When you paid up front you probably were paying for the hardware, not actual service, or if you were an existing customer possibly last months bills too. They should prorate you your service to actual days used on the partial month.
Unless you have the carrier insurance (or 3rd party) cracked glass due to dropping the phone is not covered as a manufacture defect thus not covered by Nokia. Since you dropped it your looking at another way to repair it. I can't say for this model but some models are just a pain to replace the glass on, it may look easy but it's not always, especially if the frame is bent. Vague questions receive vague answers . . . . . .

The month behind thing is normal. If you go back to your first bill, you may see it show the same thing. It likely was a bill for a month and a half of usage which didn't show up until you already had your phone a while. You are still stuck with that last month.
The phone you dropped could only be covered by a 3rd party, not the manufacturer. You are stuck replacing the screen yourself or sending it back to be fixed. I think it is about half the price of the phone to do that. |

Thanks all. The screen seems to be undamaged, but the glass is cracked and I noticed a couple scuff marks on it. I think I'll just buy the part and try to replace it myself. the glass is glued to the frame. If you use a hair dryer to heat it up, it should come off. It can't be any worse than when I had to take the touch surface off a tablet screen.
So, it looks like I'm on the hook for this months bill and part of next. I went to the Verizon store to cancel, but they couldn't do it. I should have been more forceful. |

Check your actual bill, as it will list the dates of service you're being billed for. Go back to your first bill and see what you paid for when you started the contract. IIRC, I paid the partial month and the first full month on my first bill, and now pay in advance for each month (with any overages going on the next bill). I presume that's how all VZW bills would work, but again, check yours to be sure.
