Should the washer still be $539 in BB stores today?
I my try to PM at Lowes. I filled out the online thing for the Lowes movers coupon a few hours ago, but haven't received that. How long does that normally take? |

I called like 3-4 BBs and they all told me the price on the gas dryer (DV10AGW) is $629.99 - not sure why this is the case. I'm thinking the gas dryer pricing is YMMV, so take the $540 pricing that others have gotten with a grain of salt.
The electric model is $540 and the washer is also $540, but most only have floor models that they cannot sell. I called one Lowes to ask if they could PM by calling the local BB and asking for the price. They said no, so I think getting them to do that anywhere would be a pretty long shot. Found a Lowes with one in stock. I priced matched at Lowes. It came out to $485 plus tax.

Got the set at Lowes and have them price match 110%... came to the same price as the previous folks @ $485 each.

I just wound up getting it at Best Buy for $539 - 5% (for purchasing on best buy credit card). I could have taken 180 day 0% financing.
How do you all feel about the size being 3.5 cu ft? Honestly, it looked a little small and my wife was concerned she'll be doing too many loads of laundry now. This is compared to a 15 year old top loader (not sure of the size). |

Also, an interesting tidbit in case you were wondering why the dryers are always bigger: "You stuff a washing machine and add water and everything packs rather tightly together. You put wet stuff in a dryer and it fluffs up while drying. You need plenty of room to allow air to move between stuff so it will dry efficiently so the dryer drum needs to be plenty bigger than the washer tub." I got Lowes to price match plus beat the price by 10% without any issues at all. I called BestBuy to make sure they had them in stock and to verify the price before talking to the salesman at Lowes. After that he verified the price himself and didn't have any problems getting him to beat the BestBuy price. It might have helped that they had a sign on each side of the washer and dryer pointing out the fact that they will beat any competitors price by 10% haha. Thanks for the deal op.

This was a great deal! I bought the washer & dryer at Lowes with their price match for $485 each.. this should be a better set than the Amana set I bought 3 years ago for $550 each. We moved a year ago and sold those and were going to be upgrading soon anyways.

Found the washer and gas dryer at Lowes. Got the washer for $485 and the gas dryer for $567 plus tax. The rep at Lowes would not honor the 110% policy and only agreed to price match. After half hour call with 1-800-4-Lowes, overwrite by manager and head cashier, scored the deal. Thanks OP.

Well after dealing with a complete jerk csr, and calling the 1-800 # and calling Best Buy to talk to our jerk and the 1-800 guy calling the store manager and an hour of our time we got the set. The csr jerk told me he doesn't have to pm and that he has the w/d for $629 each ( though the signs showed $699 down from $800)........then he said Best Buy is going out of business and that must be why they are selling so low, but that he bets they don't have any in stock. And no he wasn't going to call them to check, he doesn't do that... So I called the 1-800 # and had hubby cal BB, the guy on speaker tt the jerk csr and answered all his questions, where they were located, yes there in stock, yes they are $539, yes they deliver and install free, then the jerk said when can you deliver, about a week? BB guy said no, in 2 days! Our jerk csr couldn't win an inch
 So off he went to tell the manager who was on the phone with the 1-800 guy. So finally at the register tt the manager about the whole ordeal and the jerk's attitude, pointed to their policy sign and said I want the 110% price, free delivery and install same deal as BB, he balked at the 10% at 1st but hubby started in on him and he agreed it was their policy and that since we could replicate the deal with BB, even though they aren't considered a local competitor. ( we asked him where on the policy it says local competitor only, he couldn't and we did not see it), he relented that we were right... so after doing battle we emerged victorious....... although there should not have to be all this hassle..... thankfully I don't back down. when I'm in the right! These guys, especially the jerk, acted as if it was personal from the start and that the money was coming out of his pocket! Hope this helps others to not roll over but go for it!
