250GB Hard Drive for Xbox 360 Slim $56.99

Much better idea is to just look for an old "phat" xbox 360 hard drive (20gb,60gb,120gb,250gb), unscrew it or just break it open, take out the hard drive, and get like a $2-$3 hard drive case for the slim from Amazon and put it in. It fits like a glove, and works 100% perfectly. Because it's already an xbox 360 hard drive, no need to fash it or anything.

That's what I did. I bought a 4 gb slim, searched craigslist, found some guy selling a used 120 gb elite hard drive for $40 cash, just broke it open, bought a case/adapter for the Slim, and put it in. Works perfectly and the size is pretty much all I need to ride out the last year or two of the xbox 360.

Personally I would go on Craig's List or eBay and find an older 120GB hard drive for cheap.
I see them on sale for $20-50 and then you can get an enclosure on eBay for $6

Official Hard drive, already formatted (though you may have to erase the information on the disk if the person you bought it from didn't). You just open up the enclosure of one and slide it into the new one you purchased. Pretty easy and cheap for an "official" MS X-Box 360 hard drive.

I did the same thing last year for my gf (she had the 4 gig as well) and it's been working great for the past year.

If you don't plan on moving your xbox that much you can skip the $6 case and wedge the drive in 360 slim. I bought the 250gb fat 360 drive, opened up the hex screws, and shoved the drive directly into the slim, wedging it with some foam from a Dell shipping box.
