need a new router

I have needed a new router for quite a while. I have been switching between 2 free Vonage Motorola VT2542 VOIP routers for about 4 years or so and when they lost connectivity I froze them or let them cool and they would come back to life for a year or so.

Now both are dead.

I am an IT person but have little interest in this part of technology. My wireless laptops and other devices are several years old by now so I doubt that they are compatible with the latest available wireless bandwidth. I really don't care what I get as long as it is backward compatible with devices that may only be designed to run at 54mbps.

So...requirements are:

1) Run 4 wired network devices (server, desktop, printer, free cable)
2) Run 3 laptops
3) Reliable
4) Great range if possible
5) Router settings e.g. port forwarding that won't be lost when I lose power.

Don't know what these things go for. Would rather not put more than a $100 bucks into it.

Gosh, I missed your posts and ended up ordering this:

It seems to be backward compatible with the 802.11g standard and will allow me to use n compatible wireless devices at a later time. I searched for it here and noticed it was $30 from Ben's Outlet shipped.

I wonder if I have it right....would hate to have to return it.
