Direct deposit kills the deal IMO. I get these promos in the mail all the time from chase since they're relatively new (since they acquired all the old WaMu branches here) to the west coast and are always trying to get new customers. They do have promos floating around though where direct deposit is not required - i snagged one a few months ago and was meaning to stop in but just never got around to it. The only restriction was you needed something like $1,500 in the account for 6 months and you pocket $200 which is still a better return than any CD or savings account would get you. Just requires a little more work.

If you close it before 6 months are up, they'll take the $200 back, and if you close it before 3 months are up they'll also charge you a $25 fee.

Did anyone use a chase credit card for their initial deposit? I mistaking used a Marriott Visa card that is issued by Chase for opening deposit. I'm not sure if that will mess up with bonus

I don't know the answer to your question, but someone on another site said this:

"Oh and - don't fund the initial with a Chase CC as it counts as a cash advance. $10 fee + daily interest charges. I did because I was out of the country, big mistake."

Thanks! I'm gonna pay the charge off as soon as it hits my account. Just hope it doesn't DQ me for the $200 bonus

So i signed up, got the coupon confirmation, and now i transferred some money from my money market account and will wait 10 days to see if i get my $200. Will keep you guys posted. I'm also thinking about doing a transfer from my Wells Fargo account just in case. We'll see.

Closed one of these in February, I'll have to see if I meet the 6 months waiting period.

All you have to do is put $1500 in the account and not worry about DD.
