Spoke with an inside source to get this code. Please note that the valid time for this code does not start until Aug. 1st (unknown expiration), but it does show up as a valid code, without taking the discount off the price of the lens/SLR.

I did successfully get the discount by the following method:

1. Login an account you have created.
2. Add refurbished items wanted to cart.
3. Apply code "SHIP712" for free shipping.
4. Apply new code "D2B812" to get the code to register, but not to discount the items.
5. Call customer service (1-800-385-2155) and say you are having a problem with your cart and the above code (d2b812) - they will place the order for you with a manual adjustment.

Again, I am posting this to get slickdealers the chance to get a great deal on a great lens with a little effort. This is a big YMMV, as I can't guarantee you receive the 20% off - depends on your representative. After the hordes of people that try to do this, they might put an end to it.

fyi, if you trade in an old non-working Canon camera (i.e. $5 broken 35mm Canon T50), you automatically get 20% on refurbished cameras. Bought a Mark 5D this way and saved a buttload. Just call Canon and tell them you're interested in the Canon Loyalty Program. Note: You need to give them the serial number off the Canon camera you're going to trade in.

Yup, their reps are well-educated. Both reps I talked with said it was only for a waterproof Canon Powershot case.
