Knight and Day Blu-Ray $4.99 (after trade in) + $10 Fandango movie cash
I read about this deal somewhere but can't find the original source. I apologize if this is a repost.
What you need: 1 used DVD (can be any DVD you own - even previously viewed from Blockbuster or cheapies from the Dollar Store) + gas and a car to get to Best Buy
1. Go to Best Buy customer service with one of your used DVD's in hand
2. Ask them to give you a $5 off upgrade coupon towards a new Blu-Ray (good through 8/11)
3. Walk to the Blu-Ray section and pick out Knight and Day for $9.99 (MUST HAVE THE PROMETHEUS PROMOTION STICKER ON THE FRONT OF THE PACKAGING - Check as not all copies of Knight and Day may have it)
4. Go back to customer service and complete the transaction for a net of $4.99 (+tax)
5. Go home and redeem the $10 movie rewards
6. Go to Fandango and purchase a $10 gift card using the movie rewards #'s
Net cost is $4.99 + tax. For that you get Knight and Day on Blu-Ray and a $10 gift card at Fandango that never expires.
Details:
Best Buy is running a deal where you can trade in any DVD (doesn't matter what movie - I turned in some old previously viewed BB flicks - others have used $0.25 DVD's from the Dollar Store) and receive a $5 credit towards any Blu-Ray that is $9.99 or more. That deal has been going on and there are some terrific options there. At my location you simply hand the used DVD's to a person working at Customer Service. They hold the DVD's while you look for your movies.
Head to the Blu-Ray section and pick out Knight and Day. Make sure it has the Prometheus promotion on a sticker on the front. Take the movie to Customer service. It should ring up at $9.99 - $5 for a net of $4.99 + tax.
Go home, unwrap the disc and follow the instructions on the sticker. The end result will be a print out for $10 off Prometheus that expires in a month.
Now head over to Fandango. Purchase a gift card for $10. When it asks for payment information enter the numbers from your Promethius promotion. The numbers are accepted as a credit card. On that print out you will have the credit card number, expiration date, security code, and zip code. Once it's all entered you should receive a notification that payment was accepted. You now have a $10 Fandango gift card that can be used on ANY movie (not just Prometheus) and it never expires.
Knight and Day is a decent movie. Falls in the rare Romantic / Action genre. Worth a watch and then flip the Blu-Ray for a few bucks on CL or eBay if you don't like it.
One more note - there is another thread out there that shows you how to get the Steelbox versions of the Dark Knight and Batman Begins. They are both $10 right now so your net is $5 each with DVD trade ins. They also come with $5 movie cash that can be used towards The Dark Knight Rises. If you are going to see TDKR then you are essentially getting the BR's for free or sell the Steelbox versions and make a few bucks.
