Why does the SD community tolerate open sexism and hostility towards women?
This thread, which is clearly being monitored by mods, contains no less than 5 posts making jest of human sex trafficking, and a few more jabs at the costs of owning or importing multiple women.http://slickdeals.org/f/4930108-2...hips-Free? Is Slickdeals a pub or a legitimate deal forum that fosters a welcoming environment to all visitors? We can see other instances of this crass behavior in posts for women's clothing and other feminine products. I'm not clear on how many admins/mods are female, but I can't see how anyone could find "harmless humor" in posts that degrade women's bodies. My question is whether I should waste my time reporting behavior like this, or is Slickdeals a boy's club? See random examples from a few recent posts: http://slickdeals.net/forums/show...stcount=14 http://slickdeals.net/forums/show...ostcount=8 And innumerable other examples scattered through almost EVERY SINGLE POST concerning women's products. I want to know whether this has the SD seal of approval or if SD's moderation team is making an active effort to create a safe, non-hostile community for female slickdeals users. |

i was *just* looking at that thread. i've locked it and will clean it up.
not only are those posts tasteless but they're off topic. therefore, they will be removed and remain locked. the deal will still be viewable. since there have been multiple mod alerts on that thread, it's not worth leaving open for further discussion. as for the other two single posts, they look fine to leave. can't read too much into a post that's borderline. in the future, kindly mod alert posts so that moderators can review. thank you for bringing this to our attention.
