They're nasty in tomato sause. Keep in mind this comes from a guy that eats a few cans of the smoked in olive oil (subscribed) variety per week and hates any type of canned tomato sause.

Bought 7.5 oz cans on amazon a while ago, and all of them had a lot of scales. Once you clean them up, they taste ok.

I bought a box of these thinking that they were the small kind (which I prefer) and ended up getting a lot of the big fish.
I personally prefer King Oscar sardines with the smaller fish. |

Seconded. King Oscar sardines (double layer) are the finest quality currently and readily available, IMO. |
