I am idling about 37c and getting up to 66c on load. As far as acoustics I can't comment on that because I have some noisy case fans ![]() Reading Tomshardware he did a roundup of six 7950 cards. The MSI did well in all around performance. The acoustics under load... 41dB vs 35dB. I don't think that makes too big a difference unless your case is on top of the desk with the monitor. http://www.tomshardware.com/revie...,3207.html The Windforce isn't reviewed there however. It's a consensus in the overclock community the Twin Frorz cooler will be the weakest link in the overclock and most shouldn't be able to get past 1150 on the core. I don't plan on finding out because that requires upping the volts, thus increasing heat and shortening the life span of the card. I am quite happy with 1040. I don't know about the Windforce but there is a chance it can overclock slightly better than the MSI TF. The MSI is a great card though I love mine. No one is complaining about coil whine like with the XFX DD's. It doesn't take up 3 slots like the ASUS version does. Last edited by alehm; 07-26-2012 at 03:42 PM.. |

Holy crap, wouldn't the ASUS Radeon HD 7970 for $329.98 AR be much better? Its a three slot monster though, but at least you get a BIG heatsink.

![]() i hate ppl who comment on posts about deals they got in the past or OOS...if you can't get it today then it ain't a deal anymore! ![]() this is probably the next best thing unless you can point to a better deal?

I still think this is a better deal, but I don't mind knowing what else has been out there, and it's more convenient to hear about it in one thread than having to sift through old posts. I think more information is a good thing as long as someone's not being an asshat. |

BTW, the same card is back-in-stock at newegg ($309.99 after MIR) but does include the 3 games. |
