Like the dot-com bubble? I guess if you measure from the bottom, it doesn't look so bad. If you measure from pre-recession peak, it tends to look significantly worse. Last edited by Xygonn; 08-06-2012 at 09:58 AM.. |

I'm not aware that any of those you mentioned involved numerous major financial institutions either going, or on verge of going belly up, all at once. From what I've heard, lending came to a virtual standstill in 2008 and that is unprecedented since the GD. I recommend you watch this presentation by Darrell Duffie a professor of Finance at Stanford's Graduate School of Business. [ucsd.tv] |

How bad the current situation looks compared to the other two situations I mentioned depends on if you measure relative recovery with 100% at the peak before the recession or if you put 100% at the bottom of the recession. |
