If you do suck down an hour of someone's expertise at your local running store, at least be nice enough to buy your first pair from them.
If you click "I bought this", you'll automatically REP IT and thumb Are you infected with the Conflicker Virus? 10 second test [kallenweb.com] |

After that, just buy the same model/size online without worry. Also, thanks OP. Got a great deal on some motion control shoes... -j |

It appears that some call motion control/stability in the same description for flat feet/over pronators... see below. I am not over-weight and I used to have to run in a motion-control shoe and I have FLAT feet. I went to my local running store and that is what they first put me in. It turned out that biomechanically I don't run like a person with flat feet, though, so I'm better to go with a shoe for mild over-pronators. I run marathons so i have a general idea of what I run in but am not a shoe God, that's for sure!!! So sorry if anyone felt misled by what I said earlier. What i should have said for high arches was a cushion shoe, usually light weight and flexible. Here is what zappos descriptions says: Arch Types Normal (medium) Arch A Normal or Medium Arch will leave an imprint of the heel and the forefoot connected by a wide band. After heel strike, this foot type will pronate or roll inward slightly to absorb shock. This is the most common foot type. This foot type is best suited for Stability shoes that use support devices such as dual density midsoles and medial posts for mild overpronation. (Mens | Womens) Flat (low) Arch A Flat or Low Arch will leave an imprint of almost the entire bottom of the foot. This foot type is usually an indication of the excessive inward roll of the foot after heel strike commonly referred to as overpronation. The arch collapses too much which may cause overuse injuries. This foot type is best suited for Stability shoes and Motion Control shoes. These shoes have firmer medial support devices and flatter soles that are best for moderate to severe overpronators as well as heavier runners. (Mens | Womens) High Arch A High-Arched Foot will show an imprint of the heel and the forefoot connected by only a thin band This type of foot does not overpronate at all, so its not an effective shock absorber. This is the least common foot type. Lack of pronation is generally called supination or under-pronation. The High-Arched Foot is best suited for Neutral Cushioning shoes that do not have stability devices or a medial post. This type of shoe has a softer midsole and more flexibility that will not inhibit natural pronation. (Mens | Womens) Last edited by kbabe; 07-26-2012 at 09:22 PM.. Reason: consolidate post |

Any suggestions on a good neutral running shoe? Couple of miles two or three times a week.
My current shoes are the Brooks Defyance. I love them but they are three or four years old. I think the version is version 2 and I see Runners warehouse has the version 5 for $110. However with 3 version changes I can't imagine they are the same so any decent neutral shoe that is not too heavy will do. Thanks! |

Dont see any Size 15's
Any recommendations for someone with plantar fasciitis? I walk probably 5-10 miles per day at work. I have been wearing Asics GT-2150 for the past year, but they seem to wear out pretty quickly in 3-4 month span. My only issue is they have to be black on black shoes for work. Just ordered my first set of Brooks for $110 and will see how they do. Have some custom orthotics coming to me in about a week or so to help. |
