I use only check cashing places...and the first time I went in there with a study/survey check (not talking about this study) they were like "oh is this real" we get a lot of "fake" checks in here from online things. So I explained yes it's real I do surveys, BBs and product tests...all legit. They never questioned it after the first couple checks...I just said product tests after that, less hassle than if you say "online survey or study"....

I would say go in during normal hours and ask them to call the bank the check is issued through for verification. Or if the bank it was issued through is in the area, go there.

Usually the checks have the waterproof marks and things on them...it shouldn't matter if it don't go through the machine, they can enter them manually....I had a couple where they had to manually input the routing or account numbers on the check but they never gave me an issue over it.
