There was a previous thread on this:
http://slickdeals.net/f/3840442-H...2-48-w-FS? My comments from that thread were: "Got one and am very pleased, with a few caveats. The saw itself looked virtually unused, no scratches at all. There was no legible code written on the saw. The chain was new. The bar was obviously used and had been repainted, but was OK. The bar is a 16 inch that takes 66 links narrow kerf .325 chain. The only problem was that no matter how long I warmed the saw up, it would not run at full throttle. I have a Husky/Poulan carburator adjustment tool, and a quarter turn richer on the high speed mixture screw made it run great. I'm impressed. It's light, but has plenty of power. (I needed a light saw; I've noticed as I get older, my other larger saws seem to be getting heavier.) Husky/Poulan saws are frequently criticized at the arboristsite.com for being set impossibly lean from the factory. My advice to anyone buying one of these is to get one of the Husqavarna/Poulan carburator adjustment tools off of ebay, and then go to the chainsaw forum at arboristsite.com and learn how to tune the saw. " I'd add now having owned the saw several months, I am very pleased with it (once I got the high speed mixture set.) |

My Poulon Wild Thing has been terrible....in fact, I'll just throw this out there.....Poulon in general stinks.
I switched all my gear to Echo with a Husq leaf blower 3 yrs ago and it's been worth the extra money. I like the Husq chainsaws though. My neighbor got a new one maybe 6 months ago and that thing starts right up and had tons of power. I still have the Wild Thing but only b/c I dont use it that much so I didnt want to spend the money for a good one. That said, our last storm in April left me hanging b/c the POS would not start (again) so I plan on going saw shopping soon. IMO, Stihl is going to be by far the best one out there....Echo a somewhat distant 2nd and Husqy in 3rd but not out of sight of the Echo.....I am referencing Outdoor Pwr equipment such as edgers, blowers, trimmers here that are readily available at HD, Lowes, ACE and then your Lawn & Garden Shops.....Kinda like a Porsche, Corvette and a Mustang GT. All fast but they have a pecking order. |

The Poulan has it's uses though. If someone insists on borrowing a saw from me, that's the one they get. It makes a good loaner and beater. I've got a big old Stihl 038AV, but as I've gotten older, it has become too heavy and powerful for me for most uses. The 435 is what I grab most of the time for light-medium use. |

i dont need a chainsaw but if i did i would be in on one in this deal. i own a Husqvarna gas blower and it beats 2 previous gas blowers i have owned by very very far. Husqvarna is a little more expensive than competing brands but definitely worth it imo. repps coming your way on this post op

1) Genuine Husqvarnas chainsaws are just a notch below Stihls.
2) Husqvarna does own the Poulan brand, but that they are not comparable. Big companies make or own lower end products to offer to mass retailers. 3) Genuine Husqvarnas of any kind (string trimmers, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, etc.) are highly respected by consumer groups as well as lawn and garden professionals. 4) Pay no attention to the asshats who enjoy confusing people. 5) This is an excellent deal for a solid chainsaw. |
