I wouldnt rate them up there with stihl and redmax, even though the company did buy Redmax.
Husqvarna does make commercial saws but there $500 plus. This would be comparable to Echo but its a bit better brand. In all for a homeowner these are perfect. You could even use them for light duty commercial work but I wouldnt. Your much better off with this then craftsman or any of the other MTD brands. |

All my friends use Stihls. The city that i live in, the regional park and recreation offices has nothing but stihl branded stuff. I'm talking about weed eaters, chainsaws, blowers and pole saws. I personal have a stilh MS-230 and it is a beast. I've used a stihl MS-290 weed eater and that thing is also amazing. I hear good things about husq too. I would never touch ryobi (have a lot of bad experiences with their weed eaters) or craftsman. I don't want to start a flame war but i've used craftsman chainsaws. The chain kept coming off. Sure the chain break caught it but NO THANKS!....
If you've never used a chainsaw before, i'd highly recommend staying away from electric ones. They are much more dangerous than gas ones. At 40cc, I honestly believe this husq works great with the 16in bar. Depending on what your cutting, having a longer bar, more often than not is unwieldy. Longer bars make it much more likely for your chain and tip of the bar to hit things, resulting in kick back and injury (if not death). Question: Do you cut a lot of trees to the ground (like virtually hitting dirt), then get the smaller bar. Question: Do you plan on cutting things bigger than 16inches in diameter and have you done it before? I can tell you right now, a live or dead tree even 15 inches in diameter is HUGE and HEAVY. I've cut things where I buried my Stihl's 16 in bar into the tree and i find that 40cc isn't enough. I can't imagine what it would be like using a 18in bar on a 40cc. This is coming from a very sharp chain that was recently put in, cutting a non hardwood tree. I've hit my chainsaw on things including rocks and had the chain spark, got it stuck on barbed wire, etc. A longer bar really is a liability if there is thick thick under growth. Just my 2c, with my experience. |

I bought the Husq 445 refurbed a couple years ago and it's become my favorite saw (I have a collection). I've cut maybe 5 cords with it and haven't had to fix or adjust a single thing except sharpen and tension the chain a few times. Mine was a Husqvarna factory refurb (not sure about this deal), and it came with a very worn chain that had only one side of it sharpened. So my first cut with the saw went diagonal. But once sharpened properly, it has performed flawlessly ever since. Only chainsaw I've owned that could cut 5 cords without a breakdown or carb adjustment of some type.

Keep in mind Husqvarna owns poulan so if its says made in USA its actually a Poulan (made at what was the Poulan plant with poulan parts.
You can actually look in parts manual and see same part numbers on them are same as whats in a labeled Poulan, and if its made in Sweden..well its a true Husqvarna.. MAYBY this doesn't matter and Poulan quality is now the same level as Huaqvarna but I doubt it. Its also the same with the lawntractors as most of the lower price Husqvarna as HD are really Poulans... This is my opinion and that I have gathered from during research on the net. Maybe my comments are flawed but search and see .... Last edited by recountryman; 07-27-2012 at 02:54 AM.. |
