I didn't forget, I just don't mind quoting it because I'm not the one trying to argue irrelevant semantics over whether it was literally physically returned to the UK land mass. Seriously??? lol Whether it was returned to "Britain" physically or returned to the Brits more generally, isn't particular pertinent. The only reason that this dumb story is in the news again to begin with is because Pfeiffer was trying to make Krauthammer look bad with his "Naaa na na na naaa" post on his blog. He screwed up and ended up distracting from the talking point campaign to hit at Romney's trip to the UK (as is this thread) and made him look like an idiot by getting the story wrong and posting a pic of the wrong bust as "proof." It's clear from the British press at the time that THE bust was returned, whether physically returned to the UK or not, and that it was not done at the request of the Brits who took it somewhat as a snub. Whether that was done, parsing the specific wording of the later article, before he "arrived" by physically setting first foot into the office following his inauguration or it was declined during the transition doesn't really make any difference in that respect. In any case, this "issue" is pretty much done other than knuckleheads like you and me arguing about it on politics forums. Things now will turn in the same way to the talking points battle over who supports Israel more and whatever mistakes they make/have made. |

Quote from SigX : this is exactly the problem with modern day american politics... people focus on this crap instead of the real issues. unless of course its Biden saying similarly idiotic comments.... that can be ignored, you know, cause he's our guy! There is no mention of Obama. This was what "people focus on". |

So yes, I will continue to laughingly accept hypocritical criticism from conservatives and sarcasticly declare I will follow their lead. |

Meanwhile, who removed Churchill's bust from the White House promptly after moving in and truly offending our British friends? I see Obama was lying about that this weekend... |

Nothing more important for these people to be focusing all their attention on, then a chicken sandwich... |

"The Olympic beach volleyball players said bye-bye to their bikinis when temperatures dropped below 20 degrees for the start of the first night session at Horse Guards Parade." http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/n...d=10824055 So not much out of the ordinary for an olympics then? Hardly the doom and gloom that Romney was hinting at. He is an expert on empty seats at the Olympics though. If I remember right there were plenty of those in Salt Lack City in 02. The scandal then was that he refused to offer the unused seats to widows and orphans of 9/11. Nice. |
