I didn't forget, I just don't mind quoting it because I'm not the one trying to argue irrelevant semantics over whether it was literally physically returned to the UK land mass. Seriously??? lol

Whether it was returned to "Britain" physically or returned to the Brits more generally, isn't particular pertinent. The only reason that this dumb story is in the news again to begin with is because Pfeiffer was trying to make Krauthammer look bad with his "Naaa na na na naaa" post on his blog. He screwed up and ended up distracting from the talking point campaign to hit at Romney's trip to the UK (as is this thread) and made him look like an idiot by getting the story wrong and posting a pic of the wrong bust as "proof."

It's clear from the British press at the time that THE bust was returned, whether physically returned to the UK or not, and that it was not done at the request of the Brits who took it somewhat as a snub. Whether that was done, parsing the specific wording of the later article, before he "arrived" by physically setting first foot into the office following his inauguration or it was declined during the transition doesn't really make any difference in that respect.

In any case, this "issue" is pretty much done other than knuckleheads like you and me arguing about it on politics forums. Things now will turn in the same way to the talking points battle over who supports Israel more and whatever mistakes they make/have made.

No, your argument was that this thread represented the modern day problem where people focus on crap instead of the real issues. I pointed out that the conservatives around here start thread after thread of useless crap. In those and other threads, youll find your fellow bretheran exhibiting exactly what you criticize here-- they focus on BS and make it out to be an example of how obama is the devil but when it comes to the conservative politicians, oh "that can be ignored, you know, cause he's our guy"

Truly offending our British friends? Other than that article in the Telegraph, I haven't seen any reports about it from 2009. In fact, the press it got last week was far more than it got then. Regardless, according to the White House curator, it was scheduled to be returned before Obama was on scene. Which was backed up today in the NYT.
