50" LED 1080P TV with USB ar Frys B&M for $499 only , most likely Toshiba 50L2200

Fry's has been secretive about their best sale items (TVs in particular) for at least a year and maybe 2-3 years, IIRC. I think Fry's decline started when they lost millions of dollars due to the employee who was making special deals with motherboard manufacturers, and it wasn't too long after until they started cowering in fear of manufacturers and MAP (minimum advertised prices which to me = legalized attempts at price fixing by the manufacturers).

I keep joking that given the direction Fry's is headed, sometime in the future each Fry's ad will look like this:

Just picked it up. Quality is fine - better imo than the panasonic vieras and just under samsung. The setting was on standard and it was pretty vibrant. Pleasantly suprised.

Higher-end LEDs had thinner profiles and borders, but were 3 - 4x the price.

checked it out during lunch. picture looks fine, but the tv is very thick.

they always have these deals...but in the past you could always call and they would tell you what it was and if they had it

Another thing I have found interesting

Now Frys says they will match Internet prices from any authorized competitor

However..I have seen their online competitor that would not match a Frys online ad

A couple of year ago when they had the LG LX9500 and the Samsung 9000 LED and crazy prices...I called both Vanns.com and Onecall.com

Both customer service reps said they saw the Frys ad and they they would loss hundreds of dollars selling those TV's at Frys prices and would not price match..lol

The last time I bought a Tv at Frys....a Samsung 64D8000 for $1299

Best Buy said Frys was losing $500-600 a TV at that price

Does Frys really price these Tv's and lose money like that?

OK I picked up the TV on Friday and I spent closer to 3 Hrs. My first opinion after using it, it is def worth 499$. Nice colours and display. No bells and whistles, you are just paying for LED. TV is thick, bezel is 3/4 inch. TV osd menu is rustic nothing fancy. Only 2 hdmis and one optical out and other basic inputs.

I picked up LG 47c565 last week for 499. I have both and one of them has to go, so will decide tomorrow morning. Need to test the LED,s performance in bright day light, my apt has lot of natural light.

Almost pulled the trigger on this until i went to frys and looked at it. the picture quality sucks.

With my personal experience, it is thick but not heavy. Toshiba spec say 39.68 lbs, not bad when compared to samsung UN50ES6100FXZA which is 33.7lbs
