It's a great flashlight at a great price but it's less than ideal for general use. In flashlight speak, it's an extreme thrower with comparatively little spill.

Most of the output is focused into a very intense central hotspot. That's great for lighting up stuff at a distance but not so great when you're using it close up like walking down a path in the dark. Your eyes adjust to the bright hot spot which is only about 8 inches at 5 ft making the spill light around it even dimmer and less useful. I'd rather walk down a path using an AAA light I have which is 12 lumens on low and puts out a much floodier and even beam than any setting on the TP41.

That said, it also works really well for lighting up a room with ceiling bounce. 100 lumens for 24 hours is great for a really useful light level in a large room in a blackout, etc.

I really like the light and it always impresses people but it sees far less use than it would if it had a more balanced beam. Just understand what you're buying.
