I have had Ooma for a year (paid for itself in 10 months). I bought it for $190 and still don't have any regrets. Now all we pay is $3.50/mo. Remember there's a $40 fee for transporting your phone number. But still this is a great deal. Our VOIP before was about $30/mo. after taxes.

The only gotcha I've experienced with Ooma is when I added an international calling plan. Started out with 1000 minutes for $10, but some calls were charged at 1 cent/minute, others 32 cents/minute, still others at 75 cents/minute, so you can burn through that 1000 in no time. And if you call a UK number that happens to be a cellphone it will wipe out the balance instantly, even if you don't connect. Ooma CS was very vague as to why there is such a discrepancy in how international calls are charged. I'm guessing it must be a huge profit center for them after the giveaway rates for domestic US calls.

Bought this for my mother, works great. I wanted to switch her to something cheap for a long time, but she wanted to keep her home number for my grandparents and relatives. Number porting was enough of a selling point that I got her to switch. Saved her around $50 monthly (we dropped the other fax number) and get cool features like voicemails in her inbox, 911 service, etc.
I'm sure if you're tech savvy enough, you can get by with some google voice number porting and routing to your cell phone, but from a purely tech support standpoint, it's worth it to go with a service where I won't get called every other day because something's not working properly. Ooma's been working since day 1, ultimately pays for itself, and has very amiable customer support staff. I'd buy it again if I needed it. |

I have had ooma for several years now. Got it when you only had to pay for the device . . . and then it was free for the life of the device. Have been using it and had no problems and absolutely no bills. I remember when i got it lot's of skeptics questioned the oomas sustainability . . . . 3-4 years later . . . . some folks are still at it . . . he-he.
nowadays they are lot's of other good options, ooma is still a very good deal, the service is implacable, all you have to do is to read the reviews you can find on all the retailers sites. |

[I had the same problem . easy fix , with your ooma pluged in your rputer turn off you router and back on , it will cycle for a minute or two and it should work fine .
good luck QUOTE=feldz23;52016074]Just installed my Ooma last night, can't say if it is good yet or not. Can receive calls and setup went fine. Answering vmail works good. But can't make outgoing calls. Just keep getting busy signals. Will need to call CS when they open today.[/QUOTE] |

I highly recommend the Ooma. I bought mine on a refurb deal like this a year ago. I had an issue early on with the calls "breaking up" but Ooma customer service walked me through changing a few settings on my computer and it has been clear as a bell since. The only thing I find annoying is that you can end up talking over each other because there is a very slight lag. Less than my cell phone, but more than my old AT&T line. Not worth paying AT&T $30 a month for, though. I am NOT tech-savvy at all, and it was easy to install and set-up.
